Pirut problem
by Igor Jagec
It seems that all the mirrors are up2date so I manage to upgrade my
Rawhide system. I wanted to test Pirut, but it won't start. Here's the
output:

bittorrent in core? what frontend?
by Alexander Larsson
At some point in time we in the desktop group discussed shipping
bittorrent and a nice frontend in fedora core. Since more and more
people start to use this as a standard way of distributing software
(e.g. fedora core itself uses this) it really should be supported in a
default desktop install, so that when you click on a torrent file in the
browser something "nice" happens.
What are peoples opinions on this?
Another question is what frontend to use as a default. bittorrent itself
ships with a wxPython based frontend (bittorrent-gui, availible with
bittorrent in fedora extras). Another frontend is gnome-bt
(http://gnome-bt.sourceforge.net/) which is designed more like a simple
*.torrent mime handler rather than a full bittorrent app. Ubuntu
defaults to this i think.
I packaged gnome-bt at:
http://people.redhat.com/alexl/files/gnome-bt-0.0.22-1.noarch.rpm
http://people.redhat.com/alexl/files/gnome-bt-0.0.22-1.src.rpm
I don't use bittorrent all that much. What do people think about these
two frontends? Are there other interesting ones?

Where's the NetworkManger applet in rawhide?
by Sadda Teh
Hi, is it just me or is the NetworkManager applet missing in rawhide? I even
re-installed NetworkManager-gnome and still I can't find NetworkManagerInfo
on my system. What am I missing here?

Linuxwacom driver update
by Michael Favia
The linuxwacom project has released a new version that adds support for
the graphire 4 and a number of other new wacom tablets. Is there any
chance of updating the FC package before fc5? -mf
From site:
It supports kernel 2.6.13/14 and a few new tablets (Graphire4, PL710,
DTF720, Intuos3 6x11 and Volito2). It also reports tool ID and serial
number to Xinput/Apps through valuators. No need to build mousedev.c,
evdev.c, and usbmouse.c for kernel 2.6.x and modify /dev/input/mice in
/etc/X11/xorg.conf anymore!

Thunderbird editor
by D Canfield
I'm having a lot of trouble with the thunderbird 1.5 editor. Cursor
movement bounces around somewhat unexpectedly and it's crashed on me
several times when doing cuts and pastes (even a simple backspace did it
once). I've never had a mozilla product be this unstable. Am I the
only one experiencing this? If not, do we know it it's a problem with
the 1.5 branch, or something that's been introduced in the FC5
environment? I'd strongly advocate rolling back to 1.0.x if nothing can
be done to stabilize this.
Thanks

system-config-packages replacement
by Igor Jagec
I saw that system-config-packages package is removed from Rawhide. What
package will be replacement for it? Is it going to be Yumex, or
something depends on Yum?
Thanks! Cheers!

system-config-network-tui
by Igor Jagec
I noticed that there are no Wireless entry in system-config-network-tui,
and there is in system-config-network-gui. BTW what ever I do, I can't
make my wep key working with that tool, and some more advanced options.
Sometimes is much more easier to put my own scripts in
/etc/rc.d/rc.local, such as:
/sbin/iwconfig wlan0 key restricted XXXXXXXXXX
/sbin/iwconfig wlan0 rate 54M
/sbin/iwconfig wlan0 channel 11
It would be very nice if you make ncurces based version of all the
system-config tools and to improve some of them, such as network tool.
Cheers!

mkinitrd problems with recent rawhide kernels
by Peter Robinson
Hi All,
Is anyone else seeing issues with updating to the latest 2.6.15-1.1826
series of kernels. I find it gets stuck in the post install script and
when I run the mkinitrd script manually it just hangs indefinately
(like when doing a yum update or manual rpm install). This is on a
Dell D600 laptop.
Cheers,
Pete
