Fedora 32 strange vim behavior?

After updating to Fedora 32 I noticed that sometimes, especially when I'm updating comments in a file, that the whole line jumps back to column1. Anyone else seeing this behavior? Also, it tries to indent for me in some code type files but it's using tabs instead of spaces and 8 spaces instead of 4. One would think in 2020 that software could "intuit" what the prevailing style is. Thanks, RIchard

Increasing the packaging team: regular workshops/vFADs/classroom sessions on packaging

Hi folks, The packaging team is generally quite stretched, and we frankly need more people helping us out. The main issue with newcomers taking on packaging is that the learning curve here is much more technical then a lot of other areas in Fedora. So, while it is still expected that folks read the docs and learn things themselves, perhaps we could be more active in helping them? We've had rpm packaging classroom sessions in the past. Are any folks interested in restarting these? Maybe a different SIG could do a session each month to help newcomers get started with packaging their tools? Orphaning python-mglob/python-minimock

Hi all, I would like to orphan these two packages, because as far as I know, nothing requires it currently. I used to package both for ipython dependencies, but they don't seem to be needed anymore. *python-minimock:* Seems not in use anymore: - dnf repoquery --whatrequires python3-minimock / "python3dist(minimock)" returns nothing) - It was used in some packages a while ago, e.g. python-daemon, which moved to python-mock now. *python-mglob:* Seems not in use anymore: - dnf repoquery --whatrequires returns nothing - It was used in ipython a while ago and that was the reason for packaging it. If anyone is interested in taking any (or both) of these, feel free to let me know and I can give it to you. Otherwise, I will orphan them soon. Fedora Jam switch to GNOME

Hi all, I'm considering moving Fedora Jam from KDE Plasma to GNOME. There are multiple reasons for this, and I think part of it would be beneficial to the overall GNOME and Fedora communities as it would be a way to be helping improve the situation in GNOME that exist as the biggest objections from the community of musicians and Linux audio enthusiasts in the overall community. The biggest objections are resource usage, since the more resources that are in use, the more it tends to interfere with real-time audio processes, causing buffer overruns and/or underruns. These overruns and underruns are known as Xruns. The fewer Xruns, the better, as Xruns cause pops during recording. When doing real-time audio work, you want to have as low of latency as possible which requires as small of a buffer as possible. The goal is to have a small buffer to get minimal latency while avoiding Xruns. Unfortunately, GNOME has, since 3.0, traditionally interfered with these processes and caused Xruns. My goal, by moving Fedora Jam from Plasma to GNOME, is to help GNOME improve this situation. The other reason for switching away from Plasma is the overall negative attitude I see from Fedora KDE users and former Fedora KDE contributors. It seems to be an attitude against the progress of improving the Linux desktop for the better, and simply complaining. I know some of this attitude comes from Red Hat dropping KDE from being a desktop in REHL, among other changes. That attitude is regressive, and does nothing to help the community if all you do is complain. I could name names, but for the sake of the "Friends" foundation, I will not. Anyhow, I'd love to see a discussion about this as well as any guidance toward making this change. I know there would have to be a new kickstart along with Koji pointing toward said kickstart. orphaning orthanc

Dear list, I'm the author of Orthanc, a free DICOM server for medical imaging [1]. As the Orthanc ecosystem is growing as a huge project, I have now to be entirely focus on its upstream development. I am also the maintainer of its Debian packages and of its Docker images (and I will continue to assume this role). Unfortunately, I cannot do more. As a consequence, I have to orphan the Fedora orthanc package [2]. The orthanc package lags a bit behind upstream (1.5.4 vs. 1.7.1). An update is required to fix the recently reported FTBFS [3]. Also, Fedora currently only features the core of Orthanc, whereas a number of plugins are available (for instance to support teleradiology or PostgreSQL). There has recently been a huge work by Axel Braun to bring such plugins to openSUSE, so it might be interesting to port those packages to Fedora as well [4]. I hope someone will be interested in taking the maintenance of the orthanc package. A few questions about a package update / policy questions / GCC 9 error

Hello, I maintain beanstalkd which is a message server of sorts. It recently released a new version however some changes I'm not 100% sure about. I was thinking of changing this to 127.0.0.1 with a note about how it should be modified. However I figure if I do that, anyone with this installed and unmodified who gets the update will suddenly have their service stop listening to the outside world. What should be done then? My thought is I leave it as 0.0.0.0 for all released versions (but what about epel7) and then in rawhide change to 127.0.0.1. I just don't like leaving the package like that for epel as well.
