Heads-up: flatbuffers 23.5.26 coming to Rawhide

In one week (2023-06-06), or slightly later, I plan to build flatbuffers
23.5.26 in Rawhide[1]. Because flatbuffers offers no ABI stability, it
will be necessary to rebuild the sole dependent package, hyperhdr. Since
I don’t currently have access to that project, there are three
possibilities:
- I can let the maintainer know when the side tag is available for the
flatbuffers update, and they can rebuild hyperhdr into it.
- If the maintainer wants me to handle this and future rebuilds for
flatbuffers, they can add me to the hyperhdr project with at least
collaborator privileges on the rawhide branch.
- If I don’t hear from the maintainer, I can ask a provenpackager to
rebuild hyperhdr.

Obsolete of DNF by DNF5 in RAWHIDE

I have great news that the upcoming release of DNF5 will obsolete DNF in
rawhide (Fedora 39). The release is planned not before the end of May. The
change was already announced in

There will be an outage starting at 2023-06-01 14:30UTC,
which will last approximately 8 hours.
To convert UTC to your local time, take a look at

Reason for outage:
We will be moving the koji buildsystem database (and the virthost it runs on)
to RHEL9 and postgresql 15 (from RHEL8 and postgresql 12).
This outage will happen while the outage of s390x builders is occuring to
consolidate outages. During the outage window koji will be unavailable
and builds will not be possible. After this outage is over, the s390x
builder outage may still be ongoing, so archfull builds may still not
complete until that outage is over.

Has anything changed in terms of how to build a signed kernel

Hello,
I tried building a signed 6.3 kernel today after a while (6.1
timeframe). Unfortunately, it appears that I am hitting some issues with
pesign:
+ /usr/bin/pesign --certdir /etc/pki/pesign -t 'NSS Certificate DB' -c
'Julians Secure Boot signing key - Julian Sikorski' -s -i
arch/x86/boot/bzImage -o vmlinuz.tmp
pesign: Could not open NSS database ("security library: bad database."):
Permission denied
I have updated to F38 since but everything is still in place:
- pesign is running unlocked:
$ sudo pesign-client -q
token "NSS Certificate DB" is unlocked
- I run mock with hosts's pesign folders exposed:
$ sudo cat /etc/mock/site-defaults.cfg | grep bind
config_opts['plugin_conf']['bind_mount_opts']['dirs'].append(('/var/run/pesign',
'/var/run/pesign'))

Updating fast_float from 4.0.0 to 5.0.0 in Rawhide, with a license
change

This is a “heads-up” email about a (non-breaking) major version update
with a (non-disruptive) license change in the fast_float package in Rawhide.
Once I have a successful scratch build in the PR[1], I plan to update
fast_float from 4.0.0 to 5.0.0.
ABI changes are impossible because this is a header-only library; the
upstream release notes[2] do not describe any breaking API changes; and
I have verified compatibility of all dependent packages via local mock
builds. Given all of that, I am not treating this as a breaking update
even though the major version number is incremented.
A significant change in this release is the addition of Boost (BSL-1.0)
as an additional disjunctive license option. The package license
therefore changes from
Apache-2.0 OR MIT
to
Apache-2.0 OR MIT OR BSL-1.0
Since fast_float is a header-only library, and our guidelines treat
these as a kind of static library, directly-dependent packages
should—strictly speaking—include fast_float’s SPDX license expression in
their own. I will take care of the necessary change for c4core[3].

OpenCOLLADA need a little c++ help

OpenCOLLADA has been failing to build with gcc 13 due to[1]:
