Would be good to know, for starters, whether this difference is real
and measurable.
I haven't used Ubuntu in a long time. However I do know that I remember
creating Ubuntu VM a few years ago and was blown away at how fast it
went from grub to a desktop login compared to Fedora. Other than that
Fedora seems fast enough to me. Just a single datapoint...
