But he isn't just using Fedora, he has a bunch of not very compatible OS
installs of varying ages, and he would need to work around this change
one way or another. I didn't miss the joke but if he could actually use
Gentoo or anything else that was the same on all the boxes that would
indeed solve his problem.
It was only half-a-joke. If the Fedora solution to backwards binary
compatibility is "recompile locally every application", then Gentoo is
much better at that kind of job.
