Actually I'm pretty certain everyone is going to move to tty1 once
benefits are realized. The kernel modesetting and graphical boot
are not exclusive to Fedora.

So far we've had a defacto standard that people have come to rely on. It
would be horrible disservice to Linux as a whole if all the distros went
their separate ways.
Is there a mailing list or infrastructure where the shepherds of various
distros can discuss a major changes for the sake of compatibility? If
not, there should be.
