No it doesn't (at least it didn't some time ago). Same for esmtp. But they
can still be /sur/sbin/sendmail replacements.
Whats the problem with just starting up sendmail asynchronously in the
background. I've always tweaked my boxes to do this for cases when I find I've
got no DNS.
