Then where's the Extras rawhide tree? Are we going to have Extras
We haven't gotten around to deciding if Extras should be either a
rolling release, or branched off based on how we release Core. As to a
Rawhide tree, I don't think we've had the chance to think that far, but
we should duly note this down when it comes to discussing about Extras
ISOs rolled out along with the test releases? Without this, Extras
There's been thought about this, but no consensus. Let me say this is to
be added to the agenda for discussions
just won't get as much testing because they're not going to
work with
rawhide or test releases. And for people who depend on packages from
Extras, this means they're less likely to run the test releases or
track rawhide, which means less testing.
Agreed, you bring up good points
Unless Extras is really part of the distro infrastructure, instead
of
a dump of packages people don't want in the core distro, the quality
of the distro as a whole is going to suffer.
The plan is to make it part of the distro infrastructure, rest assured
(as per the terminology)
I really hope we're going to see FC4 Extras test1 CD go out on
the
same day as FC4test1, and even have snapshots of them a few days
before to sanity-check before the actual test release.
A +1 to this, but as reality hits, I don't think this is going to happen
in time. But miracles do happen sometimes ;-)
So here's hoping there's mighty discussion at FUDCon and we actually
have a good outcome from it all, and move forward from there
