There are improvements happening in both Wayland and XWayland to
address each of your concerns.
If some projects want to keep using X, that's their choice, but the X
developers are the Wayland developers, and they're pretty much
completely done with X. It's on life support. So if people who haven't
been maintaining X expect others to keep doing that work, they're
going to be disappointed. They need to be using what resources they
have to make sure their stuff at least works on XWayland if not
natively on Wayland. This is not news, by the way. It's been a long
time coming.
