Hi y'all,
Is there any (good) reason for having uppercase characters in RPM file
names? If not, how about a policy against it?
As a pretty basic example why it wouldn't seem to be a "good thing" we
have packages called Gconf* and *gconf* which just makes it that little
bit more annoying to deal with.
This was discussed about 3 months ago, so check the archives.
As a run down on the discussion. Fedora follows (where possible) the
name given by the up-stream developer. It's not the business of Fedora
to deal with changes to someone elses name for something.
Most people would prefer that capitals weren't used for names.
Have a look at the archives.
