random observations on the F8 release notes

(since i'm perusing those notes, might as well comment on them.) http://docs.fedoraproject.org/release-notes/f8/en_US/sn-Installer.html "After you complete the mediacheck function successfully, reboot to return DMA mode to its normal state." - but there's no mention of DMA before this point, so this is probably going to confuse readers who will wonder what they should have done that's related to DMA before now. "Use of /dev/hdX is deprecated on i386 and x86_64 for IDE drives, and has changed to /dev/sdX except on PPC." - that doesn't seem to be the proper use of "deprecated," which normally suggests a choice. wouldn't it be more correct to say that that notation has simply changed? http://docs.fedoraproject.org/release-notes/f8/en_US/sn-Live.html "There are four Live images available for Fedora 8." - the list given there doesn't quite seem to match the available spins listed at http://spins.fedoraproject.org/. (games is not listed, and the KDE spins are for only F8t3, not F8.) "To do this, install the livecd-tools package from the development repository." - livecd-tools is not in the dev repo, it's in fedora. that's all for now. rday ======================================================================== Robert P. just an observation: the available fedora spins listed here: http://spins.fedoraproject.org/ don't mention the additional (admittedly tentative) spins mentioned here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/CustomSpins not sure if that's deliberate or not. in addition, given that there is a relatively new f8 live developer release, is there any compelling reason to continue to list the (older) F8t3 version of the same spin? Well, http://pgp.mit.edu/ is now working at 2027Z on Dec 24 2007. I wanted to "extract data" so read the help and it said if your using a Hex ID you must precide the number with zero and then x (0x) When I did this for Adam Cooper's key ID it worked after a long delay reading the database I suspect. Then I put in my new key ID and in a long delay it was FOUND! So my data is in that server. For fun I selected a verbose out put including my finger and started the search. Well now that is over. I need to put my key in a safe place that will be a 1 gb Kinston pocket device. After a while the problems of wiki navigation and other things I can now do will be explored. I would like a chance to add to the Join wiki with some things I have learned about how the gpg key system works. It will make it longer but the goal is make it more clear what you need to do. CLS problem

I am not able to do this. I have been trying to reply to email sent to me with the file fedora-icla-karl.txt which I added the I Agree and Karl Larsen to. The new Instructions show how to do this with Gedit and I used that. The resulting file is very different than the one made directly with gpg.
