POT/PO update - DO NOT PANIC
by Paul W. Frields
When I added entries to the colophon, it introduced changes into the
POT and PO files. This is expected, and nothing to worry about.
Translators, do not worry just because your module display now looks
incomplete (or more incomplete). The changes were only names for the
colophon section and therefore translation is not vital for the
official F10 release.

We need to contact all represented languages and get a list of who worked
on the translation.
Then we need to update Colophon.xml, preferably in advance of the final PO
merges in.

No Finnish translation of Release Notes this time - LINGUAS change
by Ville-Pekka Vainio
Hi all,
I have just commented out fi from the LINGUAS file in release-notes git. From
F7 to F9 I did the release notes translations by myself, but for F10 I just
didn't have the time to do all that work. I wasn't able to get any others
from the Finnish community to do the translations either, which wasn't really
that surprising since translating about a thousand messages is quite an
effort and there's only a few of us interested in translations anyway.
As a result, fi.po is currently 13% translated, it's probably not worth
publishing at all. The readmes and about-fedora are (almost) completely
translated, those could be published. I hope we'll be able to provide
release-notes translations again for F11 :)

Finishing F10 Docs & Translation schedules
by John Poelstra
Apologies for the delay in getting back to you all. I was hoping we
could do this real time, but I guess that isn't going to work out for
now. Maybe we can meet at FUDCon to make sure the Fedora 11 schedule is
setup correctly from the start?
I built a special report that combines the docs and translation tasks
into one schedule if that is more helpful to look at.
http://poelstra.fedorapeople.org/schedules/f-10/f-10-docs-and-trans-tasks...
The other schedules are in their regular places using the header
navigation here:
http://poelstra.fedorapeople.org/schedules/f-10/f-10-all-tasks.html
Here are the questions and things I am still not clear on.
1) For schedule tracking purposes the primary work products, what work
products are {created by the docs team && translated by the translation
team}:
a) fedora-release-notes.rpm (ALL files inside)
b) Installation guide
c) ????
--I guess the pattern I'm seeing in the schedule we have so far is that
we don't have consistent tasks (or they aren't labeled correctly) for
each work product (e.g. create content, review content, freeze, generate
pot, translate, translation deadline, publish content, etc.)
2) Other questions referring to the indexes or task numbers here:
http://poelstra.fedorapeople.org/schedules/f-10/f-10-docs-and-trans-tasks...
a) What is the deadline for translating the releases notes (26)? Four
days seems too short.
b) The release notes string freeze did not take place until Oct 17,
correct? (25) How does this affect the time needed to translate?
c) I thought I saw on docs-list that someone said more time needs to be
scheduled for creating the POT file for release notes (24)? How many
days should it be?
d) There is a string freeze for the Install Guide (31)
i) when is the POT created?
ii) how long is the translation period? take to translated?
e) What are tasks (35) to (38)? "web site" is vague.
Thanks,
John

edit request for Fedora 10 SELinux User Guide
by Murray McAllister
Hi,
I have been working on an SELinux User Guide for Fedora 10 (November
25). My English is very much lacking, so any edits or suggested
changes would be most appreciated. Sorry for the late request. I
didn't plan for it having to be edited by other people before it could
be published without draft watermarks. A draft is here:
<http://mdious.fedorapeople.org/drafts/html/>
The last sections, "Troubleshooting", still need a lot of work, and I
am continuing to add content, so maybe steer clear of them...The other
sections should mostly be complete. Details can be found on
<https://fedorahosted.org/selinuxguide/>.
The guide requires Publican[1] as shipped with Fedora 9. It does not
work with Fedora 8 or earlier versions. To make changes, either mail
clear text to myself at <mmcallis(a)redhat.com>, or:
1. request access to the FAS group "svnselinuxguide" (the name is
wrong on the site, so it still says git...Also, I am in
Australia/Brisbane time, so if you apply, there might be lag before
being approved),
2. if not already installed (rpm -q packagename): yum install
subversion publican publican-fedora
4. svn co svn+ssh://fas-username@svn.fedorahosted.org/svn/selinuxguide
5. cd selinuxguide/community/trunk/SELinux_User_Guide/ (files are
stored in en_US/)
6. make html-en-US to see your changes.
Thanks :) Sorry for any typos in this message.

Rawhide slipstreaming release
by Ignacio Vazquez-Abrams
There is a page in the wiki[1] that discusses issues upgrading to Fedora
10. One of the sections is about updating a prerelease to the final
release. I threw together a very simple document[2] that goes over a few
of the details, and I was wondering if someone could look it over and
give me suggestions as to how it's unclear or notes on what I forgot
before I link to it from the page. Although it's in presentation format,
it's not really meant to be presented but rather act as a technical
demonstration of the process.
