IMHO: Short term good solution, long term we should phase out GDM.
Alright, I have added it to the kickstart.
How
are the options now? I'm quite happily using LXDM, but it does not work
very well on multiple displays...
Yeah, it also has some other issues, such as not closing sessions
properly. Even after a user logs out, some of his processes keep
running.
But at least it offers (working)
language selection.
It even offers keyboard selection (if enabled). There is a new version
of LXDM I need to package but this won't happen in time for F16.
What about the others, has there been any development since we last
had this discussion?
We hacked on LightDM at FUDCon Milan, but we were not able to get it
working. There was a PAM problem. I can look at the Ubuntu package to
figure it out, but I just didn't find the time.
If you want to give LightDM a try, download the latest Ubuntu or
Xubuntu. IHMO it still looks rough and is unfinished even though it is
not version 1.0.1. Ubuntu was too fast switching I think. AFAICS it has
similar issues as LXDM, at least the dual screen problem.
