Have you tried pulse lately? I resisted it for years because of
flakiness. Then at some point something stopped supporting pure alsa.
And I gave in to try pulse again. And all is fine since that day
(actually controlling streams separately is an added feature).
So if you don't have some hard requirement, I think you can try out
pulse.
Hmm . . OK, I'll see how I go at the next fresh install - I usually do a
dnf upgrade most times and only install from scratch on a new hard disk
which seems to average every third or fourth version . .
