In a new F11 install I accidentally installed Gnome alone. I've added KDE now, but can't remember exactly what I need to do to get the KDE login manager. I thought it was in /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager, but I think I need two lines in there and I can only remember "DISPLAYMANAGER=kdm". Is that right, and what is the second line (which I assume is the login manager line)?
Thanks
Anne

It is always difficult to remember. :-)
# cat /etc/sysconfig/desktop DESKTOP=KDE DISPLAYMANAGER=KDE
Thanks

Or rpm -e gdm works too.

The day humans can get RAM implants I'm first in the queue ;-)
Thanks

Looking at /etc/X11/prefdm you can see that it includes /etc/sysconfig/desktop file and inmports the DISPLAYMANAGER var from it. It could be GNOME, KDE, WDM or XDM. Haven't find is anybody use DISPLAY var from this file or not at all.

And that would have correctly led me to /etc/sysconfig/desktop - the troubleis that I've not come across /etc/X11/prefdm before ;-)

you could simply do it from the command line:
[root@localhost ~]# system-switch-displaymanager KDE
may be it's better to use these tools (there is also a GUI [à la Fedora == defaults to Gnome gtk]) than playing directly with configuration files.
