Rex, some time ago you told me the best way to start gpg-agent under Fedora. Unfortunately I can't find the message, and I have problems with agent on the F10 netbook and the newly repaired CentOS 5.2 box. If you could tell me again I'll make sure that it is easily found - a gpg page has been started on userbase, so I could put it there. Anne

Really Slow Navigating Files

Hi Guys I'm still using Fedora 11 (x86_64) with Nvidia proprietary drivers from Livna. Suddenly, I've noticed a major slowdown when trying to naviagte folders with a large number of files and folders contained within. I was wondering if anyone else noticed that. I was also wondering if this was related in anyway to the slowness discussed a little while back regarding F12 and https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=533620 Thanks for any input. kate missing on kde 4.3.3 x86_64

Hi - I've upgrade to KDE 4.3.3 and to Fedora 12 (x86_64). Does anyone know why the kate editor appears to be missing? I can't see any obvious package which should supply it. Jeremy

Dolphin folder rename behavior

Using Fedora 11, KDE 4, and (I presume) Dolphin. When my wife tried to rename a folder on her Desktop that happened to contain several GBs of photo's, rather than the folder being renamed, a second folder named what the original folder was supposed to be renamed to showed up on the Desktop. Why would that happen? Renaming smaller folders seems to work properly. It's almost as if Dolphin creates a new folder with the new name and then copies all the files from the original to the new, then deletes the original folder. Tim

Switch user not working

When logged into KDE 4, and using KDM, I cannot login as another user. When I try, the screen goes blank for a second and I'm returned to my original, now locked with a password, desktop. Is there some xorg.conf setting I'm missing? Thanks, Tim

Restoring Thunderbird at login to KDE 4

Using F11 and the Thunderbird 3.x beta, how do I get Thunderbird to restore automagically when logging in. Firefox, Konsole and other KDE apps restore, but not Thunderbird. Thanks, Tim

Viewing attachments in KMail

I don't recall having this problem until recently, but suddenly I have problem with viewing attachments. An attached .pdf, for instance, tells me Unable to run the command specified. The file or folder file:// does not exist. What could be causing this? It's not file associations - I checked that. It seems that whether the attachment is a .pdf or a .wmv, I am offered a context menu more suited to a URL. Anne -- KDE Community Working Group New to KDE4? - get help from http://userbase.kde.org

SELinux issues with F12 and KDE

I am consistently getting SELinux notifications like the following: SELInux is preventing /usr/libexec/kde4/kscreenlocker from making the program stack executable. I have also had it for kdm_greeter, kdm, xauth and all are since the upgrade. I am wondering if anyone has any similar issues or thoughts on where the problem is coming from.. I can move SELinux so permissive mode but that is not really a longterm solution to me. If I take the action that is in the sealert (/var/log/messages) it will work until the next reboot and then it is back out in the weeds (assuming that I dont' permanently set SELinux to permissive). Any thoughts on this would be great or I will have to go with a reload which while a pain is not impossible. Thanks. Matthew Lavigne

kde-4.3.3 to stable updates, kde-4.3.75 to rawhide

FYI, In our KDE-SIG meeting today, it was decided: * kde-4.3.3 is ready to be queue'd for stable updates * kde-4.3.75 is ready for import into rawhide asap (prepping for kde-4.4-beta coming real soon). kudos to Ben Boeckel for the leg-work. Once, kde-4.4-beta lands, and we have a few new dependencies reviewed, I'll get to work getting this into the kde-redhat unstable repos for testing. -- Rex

KDE Fonts on HDMI out

I have an odd problem. I'm using KDE as my "desktop" for my media center computer, running Fedora 11 x86_64 and the latest KDE version (4.3.3?) on an nVidia 9600GT using the nVidia 190.42 driver. When the computer is connected to the TV via the D-Sub (standard VGA) out, everything looks fine, but when it is plugged in through HDMI, the fonts in KDE are enormous. Both outputs are set at 1920x1080. I can rescale the fonts in KDE (to something like 4pt from the normal 10pt) to make them look reasonable, but even then, some of the KDE apps are confused and appear as though they still have huge fonts (and so often scale off the screen) even though the fonts are small. Where should I start looking? George
