hi
does anybody now if kdewebdev will be ported to KDE4/QT4
the for me only important app is "/usr/bin/kfilereplace" and the dependencies are really large for one small tool besides the additional work upstream to maintain the more or less dead QT3

I have seen zero work put toward porting kdewebdev to KDE3/Qt4
which is too bad really.
I will ask the KDE Release Team if we should remove kdewebdev from the KDE SC releases.

oh no, please do not take away "kfilereplace"
i would be quite happy if someone only ports this as seperate application to QT4
if i could deal with C/C++/QT i would do it by myself :-(

Some of it has been ported, but not imo the most important piece: quanta
which is the main reason we're still shipping the old kde3 kdewebdev in fedora

Actually, the one app he's asking about, KFileReplace, has been ported! What is still unfinished is the port/rewrite of Quanta. We are shipping KDE 3 kdewebdev because Quanta is the main app in it and it uses the other stuff in it. (In fact, the reason why something as generic as KFileReplace is in kdewebdev is exactly because Quanta uses it.) Shipping KDE 3 Quanta with the other stuff from KDE 4 kdewebdev is something we haven't been looking into, because KDE 4 Quanta was always "coming soon". But now it's still not released! We could look into it again…
