Hi all,
Just wanted some wisdom from you all, I've just upgraded two F13 machines to F14, both of which run KDE.
The preupgrade guide suggests removing orphaned packages, but mine includes kdelibs which doesn't seem like a good package to remove.
[chris@shem ~]$ package-cleanup --orphans Loaded plugins: refresh-packagekit, remove-with-leaves akonadi-1.4.0-3.fc13.x86_64 kdeedu-marble-4.5.2-2.fc13.x86_64 kdeedu-marble-libs-4.5.2-2.fc13.x86_64 kdelibs-4.5.2-8.fc13.x86_64 kdelibs-common-4.5.2-8.fc13.x86_64 schroedinger-1.0.10-1.fc13.x86_64 xorg-x11-drv-wacom-0.10.8-2.fc13.x86_64
Maybe it's safe to remove because there's another version somewhere or something, but I thought I had better check. Thoughts please?
Thanks, Chris

Yeah, looks like that's right - the F14 packages are _older_ builds than those in F13. So yum thinks that they are orphaned packages. Removing these though, would I fear, render my system to a broken state.
I found the _yum distro-sync_ command (further on in the wiki after it said to remove orphans, which might be a mistake), which does indeed appear to show that's the case: ... ---> Package kdelibs.x86_64 6:4.5.2-5.fc14 will be a downgrade ---> Package kdelibs.x86_64 6:4.5.2-8.fc13 will be erased ...
So, I think I should not remove them, but let the distro-sync tool do what it needs to first.

Or just wait for 4.5.3 :-)

I could, but there are other packages too, like schroedinger, which needed to be downgraded ;-)
