Anaconda is changing the way that it handles per-product configuration such
that nearly all of the contents of the fedora-productimg-server package
(which sets the default filesystem layout and the branding) is being merged
into either the anaconda package or the fedora-logos package.
As a result, we are planning to retire the fedora-productimg-* packages
from F28. However, in the case of Server, we have one additional piece of
content in our branding package: an additional Anaconda banner
advertisement for the Cockpit admin console (see attached SVG).
That was originally added so that we had an easy way to indicate to
administrators that Cockpit was available and accessible, but I think it is
no longer needed for two reasons:
1) Cockpit is well-established at this point and is regularly discussed in
articles and reviews.
2) The console login prompt on Fedora Server displays an
automatically-generated URL for the Cockpit admin console as part of the
pre-login text.
I also don't think it would make sense to move the Cockpit banner
(unchanged) to the general set of Anaconda banners, as it's not
particularly interesting to the Workstation target audience (the set of
people most likely to actually see the banner).
So, in the interest of being able to kill off this package, I'd like
approval from the SIG to drop this banner advertisement. Thoughts?
