KNode crashes
by Timothy Murphy
KNode crashes about 50% of the time when I post something.
I know this has been reported as a bug,
but I wondered if anyone has worked out when it happens,
and if so whether it is possible to circumvent it?

woes with the upgrade to qt 4.5
by José Abílio Matos
Hi,
[This message is resent without the attached figure which turned to be huge, I
will place another version available, but the rationale is that fonts are
completly garbled for kde4 applications]
I have updated qt to 4.5 in F-10. Apparently I have the same problems I had
before in rawhide.
After the update kdm is not an option anymore as the kmgreeter crashes. The
crash report is attached. I had to change to gdm.
Then I have the problem with fonts for all kde applications (but not for
plasma as it can be seen in the attached figure) each character becomes fuzzy.
Notice that this does not happen for graphical applications, xterm, firefox or
any gnome application work right.
Just to the test the other option I have changed to gnome and there that
problem does not show any more. I am typing this message in kontact (kmail)
and the fonts are crispier than ever. :-)
So it seems as if there is some kind of interference between kde and qt (but
not plasma).
Suggestion (other than a downgrade) are welcome. :-)

qt-4.5-rc1 coming to kde-redhat/unstable (F-10)
by Rex Dieter
heads up, qt-4.5-rc1 builds will be landing in kde-redhat/unstable's
F-10 repo soonish.
This is primarily for testing, we've already found some non-trivial
issues (many fixed already in rawhide), so it's not for the faint of heart.

Can't login after 4.2 update
by Arthur Pemberton
I did a fair number of updates last night, including KDE 4.2 packages
and 'kmod-nvidia-173.14.15-1.fc9.10.i686'.
Normally, when I there is a problem with kmod-nvidia, X crashes right
away. However KDM seems to work just fine. But as soon as I log in,
the loader win comes up, then the monitor flickers (suggesting that X
restarted)
The end result is that I couldn't log in to KDE this morning and was
too busy to create a new user. I have a secondary 'guest' user on the
same machine, but that account couldn't log in either.
So I am debugging this remotely (no X).
So I would like a suggestion on what to do about this. I didn't have
similar problems on my updates-testing machine, but it may not have
the same kmods.
Last time I tried to switch back to nv, i basically couldn't. So if
that is going to be a suggestion, could some one let me know how to
disable desktop effects from the command line? KDE simply won't
startup with nv last time i tried.

Conflict between kdeedu-marble and kdeedu-libs
by Florian Sievert
Hi,
I just noticed in a forum that somebody asks for help, because he gets
the following error message during and yum update:
|Transaction Test Error:
file /usr/lib64/libmarblewidget.so.4 conflicts between attempted
installs of kdeedu-libs-4.1.2-2.fc10.x86_64 and
kdeedu-marble-4.2.0-7.fc10.x86_64.|
I just did a test in a VM using an absolute fresh installation of f10
leading to the same problem. Strange enough, it seems to fix the problem
deinstalling digikam-libs. Looks like its dependencies are causing the
problem on update. However, how is digikam related to kdeedu? Anyone who
can confirm this? This might cause some pain for user trying to update a
fresh installation. I am also not sure, if this is related to x86_x64 only.
Best regards,
Florian

After your window opens, try highlighting some text
Does KMail crash?
With me, it always triggers a crash - usually the mere act of highlighting,
sometimes the next action which is usually a delete or typing something new in
over the highlighted part
When I reopen, the message preview pane is blank - I have to turn preview off
and then back on, and then scroll or click to a new message to get the text to
appear
This is only happening in KDE desktop - if I open KMail in Gnome, it behaves
itself - will confirm that in a followup, just to make sure

Status of Kaffeine?
by Anne Wilson
What is the status of kaffeine in relation to KDE4? Does anyone know whether
it is a porting work-in-progress, or whether the current KDE3 version is the
end of the line? I no longer like amarok, and find kaffeine suits me well
enough, but I'm concerned that KDE3 apps like this will just fade away.
Any comfort in sight?

kdebluetooth under KDE-4.2
by Timothy Murphy
What exactly is kdebluetooth meant to do?
As far as I can see it does nothing,
either by clicking on the Kdebluetooth4 icon in f->Applications
or by running kbluetooth4 .

KDE on TV
by Mark Bidewell
Interesting titbit - I was watching Leverage on TNT and about 57 min
into the episode "The Nigerian Job" A computer is clearly displayed
using Konqueror and the config dialog from (I believe) OpenSUSE.
Sorry if this is off topic, but I figured someone might find it cool.
