No, I'm pretty sure that there's nothing like that.

The second user has the same problem, so I lean heavily towards the bug
theory. The only thing is, I hesitate to file a bug unless someone else
also has problems.

Maybe you can look things up or ask over at KDE's forums. Doctor Google is
also a good bet. However, the sooner the bug is registered the sooner the
issue gets looked into. The sooner either you will be provided with a solution
or the sooner the possibility of the bug getting fixed.
