I did a rebuilddb twice before I found this bug report. Turns out
asking yum to show info of any package is enough to have the locks
freed and the transaction to complete.
In my case it locked during the update - I don't think it completed. I don't
think showing info would have fixed it. I had to fight with yum for a couple of
hours to fix the mess.
