The "problem" turned out to be in Task Manger Settings where I found the filter
"Only show tasks from the current activity" checked. AFAIK, I'd never
checked that.
I cannot reproduce the "problem" on a test VM. Must be something very strange
in my KDE settings. Once of these days I'll have to blow them all away and redo my
user. :-(

From now on, at least during winter time, Im going to blame all
spelling an grammar erros on the cat sitting on my chest every time I sit down at the
computer....
