I don't use chrome, but I noted that after highlighting a link
as you described (and thus adding it to the clipboard), it can be
pasted anywhere by using the middle mouse button,
but not by using Ctrl-V.
Well, my problem is neither middle mouse or Ctrl-V works.
I did find that if I highlight
ww.something.com/whaterver all would be ok. But if I
added
the leftmost w it would fail as I described.
