Is it possible under KMail/KAddressBook to set up a mailman-like mailing list, say "Neighbours", so that the To line appears as "Neighbours" rather than the list of addresses in the mailing-list?

In KAddressBook, you can create a Distribution List. I don't know if it keeps that as the To: part or if it splits it out into individual emails.

No, I don't think that can be done. What can be done is to put your distlist into the BCC field. If you leave To empty it will show as 'Undisclosed Recipients' - if you don't like that or fear that spam filters might catch it, put your own address in To.

I should have said - each recipient on the list will see only To: Undisclosed Recipients, and the headers will show only his own address, not any of the others.

Thanks, I'll try that.
