I use FC11 and just observed problems with name server resolution to, say, de.wikipedia.org (many other wikipedia addresses too). The issue is with Wikipedia. I attempted to retrieve one of their images and got repeated "can't find server" errors. You're the first person to confirm to me that Wikipedia is having a hiccup.

may be this is due the K root server has gone to dnssec _today_, an instance of it is located in Frakfurt/Germany and all german dns queries should go there...

I don't know if they just fixed it or where you are connecting from but I can connect just fine - from northern UK.
Possibly a dns server somewhere is down - perhaps on your isp?

There was actually an article on cnn.com earlier today that talked about this. Their german servers overheated and shutdown and the supposedly automatic "failover" wasn't so automatic. It took many hours for the dns changes to propagate.
