monodevelop 1.0
by Dejan Čabrilo
Hello all,
As I lost all hope that monodevelop 1.0 will make it into F9, I wanted
to check out if anyone gave a shot at packaging monodevelop 1.0. I
know there are some significant differences in terms of dependencies
compared to the version in rawhide, so I just wanted to see if anyone
would share their experiences before I give it a go.
Also, when can we expect it in rawhide?
Thanks,
Dejan

NM still not bringing up eth0
by Neal Becker
On booting, nm is not bringing up my wired connection. When I login,
nm-applet is not starting. I have to start it manually, then it brings up
eth0.
nm-applet shows selection 'auto ethernet'. Last time I manually
selected 'wired connection', but it set itself back to 'auto' (whatever
that means - automatically not work maybe?)

What runs "Setting up disk encryption?"
by Clyde E. Kunkel
How do I get all LVs to activate before activation of disk encryption?
I am mounting an encrypted filesystem in fstab that resides on a VG
different from my un-encrypted root filesystem.
The root LV is initialized in the initrd, but the remaining are not
initialized until after udev starts. This apparently leads to an
initial failure, based on the msgs I am seeing, for "Starting disk
encryption" preceeds "Setting up Logical Volume Management". After LVM
is setup, "Starting Disk Encryption" is run again and I can enter the
pass phrase and all is well.
Tho the problem is currently self healing, it seems that something is
out of sync.

pulseaudio group pulse-rt
by Neal Becker
I see these messages:
May 3 17:30:33 nbecker1 pulseaudio[31536]: main.c: Called SUID root and
real-time/high-priority scheduling was requested in the configuration.
However, we lack the necessary priviliges:
May 3 17:30:33 nbecker1 pulseaudio[31536]: main.c: We are not in
group 'pulse-rt' and PolicyKit refuse to grant us priviliges. Dropping SUID
again.
May 3 17:30:33 nbecker1 pulseaudio[31536]: main.c: For enabling real-time
scheduling please acquire the appropriate PolicyKit priviliges, or become a
member of 'pulse-rt', or increase the RLIMIT_NICE/RLIMIT_RTPRIO resource
limits for this user.
But I AM in pulse-rt group. Seems strange. Either it's broken, or perhaps
this message was posted when I was not logged in? (Doesn't say what user
it's complaining about, but I'm the only account on this machine)

While discussing this, let me reiterate that I find this abstract
classification (visual/mobility) entirely unhelpful.
Assume the old gdm supported three shortcuts, say C-M for magnifier, C-S
for screenreader and C-K for onscreen keyboard, which of the two get
mapped to visual+mobility, and which tool looses out ?

Rawhide login "feature"
by Jim Bevier
I am running the latest rawhide using KDE. When the login screen comes up,
it provides my username and is setting at the password entry. If I type in
all or part of my password and then stop typing, the entry gets cleared
after about 40 seconds. I have to retype the password again. Is this a
timeout a "feature" or a bug? If it is a "feature", why is there a timeout
and clearing of the entry?

Seems like tough love here..... ;)
Similar messages if just logging out. Not clear if any issues, just
messages. (On occasion, logging out and logging back in, an applet or
two don't 'come up'. Not clear if related....)
Anything to be concerned about?
