2009-02-12 - Fedora Test Day - iSCSI
by James Laska
Greetings,
Want to learn more about iSCSI[1]? From installation to target
creation, iSCSI has been making it's way into Fedora for a few releases
now. Support for iSCSI exists in virt storage pools, scsi-target-utils
(software-based target), iscsi-initiator-utils, and in the anaconda
installer.
I invite testers to join #fedora-qa this Thursday, February 12, 2009 to
help test the iSCSI initiator and target (software and hardware based).
Come with questions and/or suggested test areas. More details will be
posted to https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA/Test_Days/2009-02-12.
Thanks,
James

How would it send the signal to a client on another machine?

I wonder what is wrong auditd is not running :(, it is enabled via services, but it is not working:
[olivares@localhost ~]$ su -
Password:
[root@localhost ~]# chkconfig auditd --list
auditd 0:off 1:off 2:on 3:on 4:on 5:on 6:off
[root@localhost ~]# service auditd status
auditd is stopped
[root@localhost ~]#

X server problem in F11-Alpha, and missing mount point
by G.Wolfe Woodbury
F11-Alpha X-windows server will not startup correctly on my testbed
machine. A VNC server will start, but any attempt to start X on the
console results in a hard lockup with no logs available.
This is being tested with the F11-Alpha live CD in init 3 mode.
I got an install of F11-Alpha completed, but the system will not boot in
any native mode due to a "missing mount point" while mounting root. I'm
still analysing this problem and will file a bug as soon as I can get a
copy of the messages for this problem (it may be a photo of the screen!)
I beieve the video chipset is an older Radeon Rage XL. Once I verify
this I'll file a bug against the X driver as appropriate. The symptom
is that the screen inits and then displays wierd memory at the top of
the screen and a *hard* lockup of the system. (It pings but will not
C-A-D or zap - have to front panel reset to recover control.)
I'll be playing with the problems for a while yet :-) :-(

Kernel boot failure since 2.6.69-0.18.rc0.git9
by Art Haas
Hi.
Here's one more report about kernel bootup errors, as I've had no luck
with kernels more recent that the one listed in ${SUBJECT}. Below is the
dmesg output for this working kernel, and things stop after the system
identifies the CD drive. I've edited the output to indicate exactly
where. The next kernel I tried was from an update about two days later,
and that kernel and all subsequent kernels have frozen at the same
point. A scan through this list suggests that the following bug report
is close to what I am seeing:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=479525
Also, there is warning about a sleeping function called in an invalid
context, but given that this kernel came out during the initial 2.6.29
merge window I'd guess that this issue has been identified and resolved.
The machine running Rawhide is an older Dell Optiplex GX400, btw.
