Problems with vte in F-12 post-alpha? (affects gnome-terminal, tilda)
by Michel Alexandre Salim
gnome-terminal is perfectly solid up to the F-12 release, but
something that happens since then appears to be causing a lot of
display garbling (followed, but not immediately, with GnoT crashing).
The same display corruption behavior is exhibited with Tilda too, but
I've not had numerous crashes there, chiefly because I use it to
control a screen session, and at the first sign of corruption, cycling
to a different screen resolves it temporarily.
I'm going to file a bug report, but could someone else verify this?
Try running emacs -nw to edit a text file within GNOME Terminal, and
start scrolling up and down fast.
Thanks,

We are including a MTA because it is required by certain packages. It
is required by those packages so that they can do local mail delivery,
because we don't set up any other way for them to work.
Changing the MTA to one that does not do local delivery, essentially
breaking these apps out of the box for all installations, is silly.
If the desktop spin wants to change the MTA for their usage case, they
can. (In fact, judging from the kickstart, they've considered this in
the past.) Heck, they may even decide that they don't want things
like cron for their usage case.

atari++-1.57-1.fc11 (FEDORA-2009-9038)
Unix based emulator of the Atari eight bit computers
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update Information:
update to version 1.57 upstream changelog: - Fixed a couple of issues in the
GUI, specifically when entering data into string gadgets. - Fixed again a
couple of exception handling issues in the menau. - Made the keypad stick
configurable, the keys for joystick emulation are now part of the configuration.
- Added a dummy front-end, "NONE", that does not render anything to the screen.
- This release supports .CAS images; however, they are not part of a C: (tape)
emulation, but emulated as disks. Depending on the contents of the tape archive,
the disk is either considered a boot disk, a binary or a basic file. - This
release supports better disk support for BASIC and MAC/65 files. If you insert
such a file into the emulated disk drive, the emulator will build a DOS 2.0S
compatible disk structure around it and you can load the image from the emulated
disk as D:PROGRAM.BAS or D:PROGRAM.ASM. Note that such disks are *not* bootable,
you first need to boot, and then turn on the emulated disk drive.

Who moved my resolv.conf ?
by Tom Horsley
I have the NetworkManager turned off, I have network turned on,
I have PEERDNS=no in the eth0-ifcfg file. Yet someone is still
engaged in swapping in and out different resolv.conf files.
How do I make it stop in Fedora 12 Alpha? I've done all the
things that made it stop in fedora 11...
Am I going to have to chattr +i /etc/resolv.conf ?

F12 alpha comment/tip
by Gene Czarcinski
I really like the way you can install Fedora with all current updates applied.
Of course, that can also bite you in the read end sometimes ... which appears
to be the case with F12 alpha ... there appears to be a problem with the
kernel in rawhide whereas the kernel on the DVD/CD is OK.
works-for-me work around:
- bootup in rescue mode from the F12alpha DVD/CD
- chroot to the system
- mount the DVD/CD
- install the kernel from the DVD/CD ...
[rpm -ivh --oldpackage <kernel_from_DVD/CD>]
recommendation: install f12alpha only from the DVD/CDs, apply updates
"carefully"

Any way to make the bugzilla form come up faster?
by Jonathan Kamens
Is there a trick for making the bugzilla bug entry form come up faster?
E.g., is there a way to specify the fields that have huge drop-down
lists as parameters in the URL and prevent the drop-down lists from
being loaded? I discovered that I could specify the initial value of
the component list by adding "component=/whatever/" to the URL, but it
still loads the whole list.
It's rather annoying that I have to sit around twiddling my thumbs for
40 seconds (yes, it's really that long; I just timed it) waiting for the
page to load every time I want to report a bug.

New BugZapper Introduction
by Vedran Miletić
Hi everyone,
my name is Vedran Miletić and I'm a free software enthusiast. I work
as a teaching assistant in Department of informatics of University in
Rijeka, Croatia.
I have been messing with Red Hat and Fedora for quite a long time, and
using Fedora as my primary OS since Fedora Core 3. Other than that, I
have been distributing Linux on CDs and DVDs since 2004. For a while I
was a member of local LUG called RiLinux, but unfortunately it was
shut down in 2007.
I wanted to give something back to this great project, and this seemed
like a good way to do it.
