Ark has a new plugin-based architecture in KDE 4. This means the code to handle
archive formats had to be ported. Unfortunately, not all archive formats got
ported to the new plugin system, in particular, the RAR and 7z plugins weren't
ready in time for KDE 4.0. RAR support is coming back in KDE 4.1 (through
external unrar, so luckily there's no code we can't ship inside kdeutils
itself).
Thanks for the update.
