After rebooting the computer with the latest updates, X refused to
start. I decided to use this downtime to compile and install the latest
monolithic build of xorg-x11.
Since I needed to remove the failing xorg-x11 rpms for a clean area to
test the source, I had to remove the window managers.
Using twm shows greater clarity of fonts over what was observed when
using gnome. Are the fonts used in the stock xorg-x11 more numerous than
ones provided in fedora?
