Hi Jan,
I guess this is no longer necessary as the patch seems to be in
rawhide :-). Very nice to see this is being picked up so quick.

Correct :-) /me is almost happy with Fedora on MBA3. Now the nouveau
part esp suspend/resume needs a fix.
Did you also try to get the internal speakers working with your patch?
Because they remain silent even after the update :-(

I tried to get the internal speakers working but so far no go :(....only
the headphones work properly. Someone on the Ubuntu forums suggested
another quirk is needed for patch_cirrus.c for the 11.6", something
like:
SND_PCI_QUIRK(0x10de, 0xcb89, "MacBookAir 3,1", CS420X_MBP55),
I am not so sure but I am going to try it anyway :).

OK, I've build a new kernel with the added quirk, and did a quick test.
I now get sound from the speakers :-). Alsamixer now shows front
speakers.

Odd. So no other/extra mixer settings showed up in alsamixer? As per
alsa default the new ones came up muted for me.

Do you still have no sound?
There was a user mentioning on irc a similiar problem on the surface
that is "no sound" with F14 kernels but a working sound with F13 kernel
which has been tracked down and is being dealt with here

ASM_ID=0x%04x <- grep for that printk, and take the (value & 0x38) >> 3
if it's anything but 1, 3, 7, 5, then it could potentially be a problem.
If it it is still not fixed it would be interesting to see if you get
any sound from kernels .32 .33 .34 to spot potential regression ( the
above is .35 ) .36 from koji and the .37 from here

if it is fixed in future releases.
Run aplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav to check for sound..
You might also want to try muting/unmuting in alsamixer and see if that
helps that is if you have not tried that already...
However the most likely cause for no sound on the Air is because of the
lack of pinouts for the Air but the above are far fetch worth a try,
see if you get lucky and your sound problems are fixed..

Getting sound working on the MBA3 is still a bit voodoo magic. I am
using the extra quirk in patch_cirrus.c and this works for me (gladly,
not really sure why though).

Looks like you dont have to do that with the .37 kernel [1]

I've backported all the relevant stuff from patch_cirrus.c from
2.6.37-rc3 and created new kernel RPMs.
With the new kernel sound still works, that is promising :-).

True then again Jurgen mention that the patch works for him while Jan
says it does not...
Assuming that..
config SND_HDA_CODEC_CIRRUS is set to yes to include the cirrus Logic
codec support in snd-hda-intel driver
And
config SND_HDA_CODEC_NVHDMIis set to yes which will include NVIDIA HDMI
HD-audio codec support in snd-hda-intelwhich should support NVIDIA MCP89
And he still has not sound and he has tried something like echo
"options snd-hda-intel model=mbp55" >> /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf I
would try the .37 from your repo if it's not utterly broken that is.
Worst case scenario is that he continues to experience no sound.
