A guess -- mkinitrd includes libbdevid.so, which is in turn required by
nash. So rpm knows that mkinitrd requires nash, but also that mkinitrd
provides something nash requires. Oh no, it's a loop -- so it doesn't know
how to order them properly.

Making new nash dynamically linked breaks more things on the top of
making initrd images twice the size they used to be. In rc.sysinit
you can find
[ -x /sbin/nash ] && echo "raidautorun /dev/md0" | nash --quiet
If /usr happens to be mounted from that raid array you are just
trying to start then this is not going to work. If /usr is not on
raid but still on its own file system then you are getting
nash: error while loading shared libraries: ....
on every boot although then that can be ignored.

What are gains from not linking nash static, as up to now, to
offset assorted troubles? Quite likely something else will surface
too. It would be less of the issue if not that detail that nine

kernel-2.6.19-1.2877.fc7 did not boot for me after removing it. (It took
out manually entered stanza successfully.) After reinstalling the
kernel, it seems to hang with file not found where the other kernel
successfully loads the usb portion on the working
kernel-2.6.18-1.2798.fc6 which was installed awhile ago successfully.
Anyway, the installation does add the stanza during installation where
it previously failed to. Would this problem be mkinitrd or the kernel?
