Hello,
Today I am seeing a very weird behavior in Xorg. My cursor is getting stuck
at the top of the display. It will move side to side, but not up and
down. Oddly, the pointer functionality is working. That is, when I move
the mouse, I can see UI elements getting highlighted when the pointer passes
over them, but the visable cursor remains at the top of the screen.

Thanks for the reply. I booted into "single" mode and used
Xorg -configure to generate a new xorg.conf file. Right now,
it seems to be working. I now have this in the Mouse section:

Rats. Spoke to soon. The lockup just happened again. It seems to
be an intermittent problem (my favorite). The cursor got stuck after
working correctly for a while. Then, after mouse-clicking for a bit,
the mouse got unstuck! Now I will try your suggestion, Kevin,
and let you know whether it helps.

Well I believe I am running the same driver as you, the i810 driver, and
I don't have to have that setting. However, I am running with compiz
enabled rather than metacity (I don't know what you are running). Here
are the settings I have in my xorg.conf file.

You may want to double check that and look in /var/log/Xorg.0.log and

I appear to be getting the Intel driver. It certainly is a very
verbose chunk of code. I am running metacity. I guess this is

Maybe you should BZ it... just so there is a tracking #. Attach your
logs and the symptoms you have with and without the SWCursor setting in
xorg.conf.
