Freshrpms, livna, et al need to be ready so we can do a full f9-prev test.
I guess I can butcher the livna.repro to point to the 8 subdirectory, but all livna has to
do is provide a soft link accessable from the web.
Working lilly white slows things down. Fedora should be LillyWhite, but it would be nice
to have livna ready for beta testing too.

You can use hte livna-development repo - that tracks rawhide.
The livna development repo seems to deliver a broken nvidia experience
(beyond the actual driver not worker properly) at the moment, including
things like:
`/etc/init.d/nvidia stop` doesn't actually stop the daemon (which means
that having had it fail to work, I couldn't revert easily to running
without the driver.
the initial install didn't build a kernel module for the currently
installed kernel (but did build a module for an updated kernel shortly
after)
the backup xorg.conf file it creates was also using the nvidia driver so
it wasn't any better.
To get a working system I had to do `chkconfig --level 5 nvidia off`
and then delete /etc/X11/xorg.conf* and then restart.
I didn't expect the nvidia driver to work well given it's lack of
support for 3D, but there seems to be a few things that livna need to
get right first.

I wonder where all the efforts to have an unified extra repos have
gone.....dissolved with spring??? Freshrpms didn't set a rawhide repo,
livna seems not be updating development for a while
And not having an unified extra repo might cause many desktop users to
migrate elsewhere, especially for multimedia and graphic drivers.
And generally multimedia management has to be improved, I bet if a
newcomer might be happy in setting up his system and how long does it
take to have a system properly working (for multimedia)?

Indeed... http://bugzilla.livna.org/ is where the nvidia package problem
belongs. The init scripts for the driver are not yet fixed for upstart (not
that it matters yet with the driver until the glx support gets released).

I am not threatening anybody, as Michael is saying: what I am saying
that the effort to unify external repo is not clear, even if you look
to the link that you suggest in rpmfusion I don't see much activity, I
understand that they should be ready for F9 launch.
At the moment the only working repo for F9 is livna, isn't it?

That paragraph above is an attempt at trying to increase the pressure
on those who work on rpmfusion and the packages.

Sorry if I created any misunderstanding ....
Livna could be renamed, the additional packages imported into svn,
but with that the goals aren't reached, since e.g. the buildsys is
not fully automatic for all packagers.

It is not intended to, it should build when you restart the akmods service or
reboot the computer.

Okay, I didn't make that clear. I installed the nvidia stuff, restarted
the computer and the kernel modules weren't detected for nvidia.

I have been using the Livna development repo on a couple of machines through
most of the F9 rawhide period. I don't use the kernel modules though, so
I am not exercising it very hard.
A few times some things were a bit out of sync for a day when related updates
hit rawhide and livna at different times.
