Hi,
When I try to update KDE from the updates testing respostory for F10 x86_64, I get the
following error:
Error: Missing Dependency: libplasma.so.2()(64bit) is needed by package
rsibreak-0.9.0-3.fc10.x86_64 (installed)
This then causes all of the rest of the updates to fail. Should I open a bugzilla for
this? Here are the typical error

What exact command are you using to update? I ran this:
sudo yum --enablerepo=updates-testing groupupdate "KDE (K Desktop
Environment)"
which threw out a number of errors similar to what you saw (but for a
different set of packages). I then updated those specific packages from
updates-testing and ran the above command again. This time it worked.

Shouldn't yum have automatically pulled in those packages? That it didn't seems
to indicate dependency errors.
I run from a console, using a python program to read a list of updates available and
executing a command using yum to
run the update. They run individually, and every package actually updated is removed from
the list (including
dependencies).

I realize that I could probably mess around and make this work. The point of my post was
to raise a flag indicating

remove rsibreak, and grab the new build from:

If you click on the package name at the top of that page it takes you to the
koji build, then just click on the download link next to the package for
your architecture. From your example failure in a previous post i would say
you want the x86_64 version which points to here:

So I went back to the original link. Again, I click on the package name at the top of the
page. I get to a page with a
column called update with the package under it. I click the link for F10, and it takes me
back to the original page.
No sign of a download link anywhere.
Then I notice that the original page has a category called Builds. And lo and behold,
clicking that takes me to a page
with download links. Don't know how I missed that last night, but there it is.
I haven't done the install yet, but this should probably fix things after I put it in
the local packages directory so
yum can find it.
/var/cache/yum/updates/packages for anyone reading along.

You shouldn't make up things that don't work. Yum doesn't care about
packages in there unless they appear in the downloaded repository metadata.
By placing unsigned packages in that directory, you even increase the
risk that once the signed copy is published in the updates-testing repo,
the package download will run into problems.
Either use "rpm -Uvh filename" to update a package manually, or do it like

Well, I came back to report that the above didn't work and saw your reply. You are
absolutely right. It doesn't work.
I had assumed that yum used the list of files to create the update list but that
obviously isn't true. It ignored the
file. When I tried to update using the rpm -Uvh it wanted the dependency of
libplasma.so.3.
As I said, I realize I could mess around and get this to work, but what kind of test is
that? I also didn't realize
that the koji package wasn't signed until it was released to updates-testing. So
rather than use John5M2's technique,
I'll just wait till it hits updates-testing.

It's not a test, it's one way to access fresh builds which may be
important in some cases.
"yum --nogpgcheck --enablerepo=updates-testing localinstall filename"
would install the manually downloaded package and resolve dependencies
automatically (meaning it would also fetch the package that adds
libplasma.so.3).

Another (but not quite as elegant) solution is to rpm -Uvh --nodeps the new
rsibreak, then rerun the yum update.
But all this should be moot anyway as a fixed rsibreak has been pushed to
updates-testing.

Sorry for that, this was a conflict of the KDE 4.2 testing update with
another testing update (the rsibreak one). We didn't catch it because the
offending rsibreak was _only_ in updates-testing, not in updates nor
Rawhide. F9 updates, F10 updates and Rawhide were all still on the KDE 3
version (and thus didn't have a dependency on Plasma). The KDE 4 version
didn't make it into Rawhide because it didn't build against 4.2 and Rawhide
was already using 4.2 prereleases at that time, which also means this
dependency wasn't caught by the Rawhide reports. Nor was it caught by the
kde-redhat testers, as they didn't use updates-testing and/or didn't use
rsibreak.
I rebuilt rsibreak against KDE 4.2 (snatching a patch from Kubuntu to get it
to build) on Friday (as soon as I was made aware of the problem, thanks to
Michael Schwendt) in Rawhide and F9/F10 candidate updates and immediately
submitted new updates to updates-testing, where they just got pushed to. So
this should be fixed now (as soon as the mirrors sync the new testing
updates).
