F21 media
by Jiri Eischmann
Hi,
yesterday in FAmSCo, we started a discussion what media we should
produce for F21.
We have been producing Multidesktop Live DVD for many releases, but with
the Fedora.Next changes we need to revisit it.
In FAmSCo, we've pretty much agreed that Multidesktop Live DVD is not
very aligned with the Fedora.Next initiative where we want to emphasize
the official products and those products should be delivered as clear
offerings all the way to the users. Merging them with other spins means
that the clear product offering is lost before it reaches the users.
Although Multidesktop Live DVD is economically the best solution, it is
not from the marketing perspective and doesn't deliver the message of
Fedora.Next products.
Suggestions that have come up at the meeting:
* the Cloud product doesn't really need a DVD media,
* having one DVD with Workstation and Server Products,
* having separate DVDs with Workstation and Server,
* creating additional DVD with other flavors of Fedora (other desktops,
many other specialized spins?) if there is enough interest and demand.
Christoph Wickert is going to bring it up on the workstation and server
group mailing lists and I'd like to start the discussion here because
this is very related to marketing. Opinions? :)
Jiri
P.S. we also discussed replacing DVDs with usb flash drives. As much as
we'd love to offer flash drives instead of DVDs it's still not a viable
option because flash drives are still 10x more expensive than DVDs. Not
much has changed there in the last two years :/

Fedora Magazine is now updated to Wordpress 4.0
by Zacharias Mitzelos
Hello everyone,
We have been running Wordpress 4.0 in the Fedora Magazine staging
instance for some time now, and checking that our plugins don't cause
any problems and run smoothly, I'm updating the current instance of the
Magazine with the new Wordpress 4.0 version.
The new update has many new features, including better editing of posts,
easier video embeds and more. Take a look at the new features here:

Happy writing!!

Amazing numbers on Fedora Magazine!
by Joe Brockmeier
Hey all,
Just peeked at the stats for Fedora Magazine today, and wanted to give a
big shout out to everybody for kicking it extra-hard this week.
The magazine has been doing pretty well lately in general, with ~2K to
~3K page views on average.
Today and yesterday, though, things have been blown out of the water.
Yesterday we were >just< shy of 10K page views. Today, we're closing in
on 19K and may very well hit 20K.
Big, big thanks to Ryan and Matthew for their work on the Shellshock
posts. Note that a lot of the traffic is coming from Google/search and
much of it seems to be people pulling up the site directly (vs. social
media or links from Reddit, etc.).
Also, though - big thanks to everybody who's been posting regularly. The
regular content is making a big difference.
I'm sure this will die down a bit after Shellshock does, but we've got
some great momentum. Let's keep it up!
Have a great weekend all!

slashdot effect
by Matthew Miller
So, Slashdot ain't what it used to be*, but one link to my shellshock
article at the bottom of a slashdot post covering multiple shellshock things
(that is, not even featuring mine) and slashdot is now the top referrer of
the last 30 days by a comfortable margin, and that puts it 5 for non-Fedora
sources for all time.
Conclusion: we should really try to get on slashdot more.
* the joke is, of course, that it never was.

I have been posting on /r/Linux a bit lately too which has been yielding some good response

Fedora 21 'feature list'
by Adam Williamson
Hey folks! So, while doing my wiki attack lately, one thing I haven't
been able to resolve is the question of a Fedora 'feature list' since
the Changes process appeared.
Various places seem to treat different pages as a 'feature list', but
none of them seems to be clearly a canonical reference consumable for
outsiders. The most obvious page is:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Releases/21/ChangeSet
which various other pages link to. However, it has an admon header which
reads:
"The Change Set is a project's internal planning and tracking tool and
the final release may not reflect all information provided there!"
which obviously isn't appropriate for something we direct 'general
readers' to, whether it's correct or not (if not, it could just be
removed and then we could use that page, I guess).
A few pages also link to:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FeatureList
particularly the https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora_Project_Wiki page
(which is kind of lightly maintained, I think). Up until today, that
page was a redirect or include of Releases/21/FeatureList , which
doesn't exist. Today, someone with the user name Belcocco has written a
rather good summary of Fedora 21 features into it, but I don't know if
that's part of any kind of co-ordinated effort or just a guerilla move.
So...I guess I'm saying there seems to be a need for a canonical,
externally-consumable, and accurate 'feature list' for Branched releases
before the release notes are available, and we don't seem to have one.
It'd be good if the relevant folks (docs, marketing, fesco...?) could
come up with a plan and line everything up. Thanks!

Proposal -- fortnightly magazine meeting
by Ryan Lerch
Hi all,
Just wondering what people think about a fortnightly meeting specially
dedicatied to the magazine, where we can pitch and discuss ideas for
posts on the magazine. Obviously not all articles on the mag would come
from such a meeting (ie the ones that are more "newsy" and are written
when something is announced)
cheers,
