Better way to update kernel on LiveUSB?

Hello, I find testing pre-releases via LiveUSB to be very handy. The problem is that the installation of new kernels is not caught by syslinux since the kernel installation scripts assume GRUB. I found the following instructions for enabling a new kernel on a persistent LiveUSB stick: http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showpost.php?p=1023695&postcount=7 It seems to work well and it is not difficult but hand-editing this script doesn't seem like the best long term strategy. Is there a simpler, automated or "official" way of doing this? /Mike

Fedora 11 fail because of Anaconda :(

Keyboard does not work with Grub menu - How widespread?

I have a system where the keyboard doesn't work when the Grub menu is visible. I opened bug 499836 and see now that there's a second report on another system with a different brand of motherboard. This can be a pretty significant problem, making it impossible to boot directly into runlevel 3 if there's a video issue, for example. I'm concerned that this problem might be more widespread than reported but is not being noticed because hiddenmenu is the default unless another OS is present. If you haven't seen the grub boot menu and are willing to test: 1. Hold down shift or ctrl during the first part of the boot process, until the menu appears (with some bioses, you may need to release the key momentarily a few times). 2. When the menu is present, you should be able to hit 'e' to edit, 'a' to append boot arguments, or 'enter' to boot a menu option. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=499836 -Chris

Thank you. * I am running Gnome * I wanted to change my mouse from the standard right-hand to left-hand * None that I understand. I tried opening each and there was nothing * I using a Logitech wireless Keyboard and mouse combo x710 USB * I installed Fedora 4 different times and each time I used a fresh Dvd. I started with beta and then pre-release. Somewhere between the Beta and the pre-release I encountered the problem. * Selinux= enforcing and Selinuxtype=targeted I hope I've answered all your questions. I know it's been touched on, but what causes TB and FF to hog the cpu, mouse useless, it moves that's it. ctrl-alt-del doesn't get focus. Can't use terminal. Any existing bugzillas? Am writing this froma wifes XP box. Sad.. Frank -- aMSN: Frankly3D
