netstat -nlp
netstat -nap
The problem with a list, is that port numbers may be dynamically
allocated at runtime.
True, though some applications (like Bittorrent and aMule, which are
prime candidates for a sysadmin to block) have preferred port ranges.
It would be nice to be able to look up all port information in one
place.
The problem with using netstat is, of course, that it only works for
applications already running?
