Okay I see the output now, took a few moments.
yum --obsolete update
yields something like
[u] aaaaa 1.0
[o] bb 1.1 - aaaaa 1.0
which means that bb is obsolete and will be replaced/updated by aaaaa

A package mentions Obsoletes: foo when it intends to replace it.
