PackageKit waiting for service to start?

After a number of updates today, I have PackageKit icon sitting in tray. Mouseover says something about 'searching for /lib/firmware/intel-ucode-blah blah (waiting for service to start)'. What's that about?

Bug 490082 - X uses wrong resolution when started with monitor off

First of all, is the fedora-desktop still only about Gnome? I seem to remember it used to be. Anyways, I've finally filed this bug after enduring it for several releases now. Fresh Fedora/KDE 4.2, NetworkManager

Hey guys. I did a fresh install of Fedora using the updates-repository enabled, so it pulled down KDE 4.2. I disabled GNOME in the setup and clicked the KDE environment instead. (Still grabbed some GNOME stuff, but I'm cool with that). I've tried using the system the past few days...and...um...there's no NetworkManager in the tray. And I don't have network access, even though I'm plugged into wired ethernet. On the Process List, nm-applet is running. I can do "killall nm-applet" and then re-launch it, and when I do, I see the KDE 4.2 tray flicker and expand, but then it shrinks back down as if nothing happened. The NetworkManager tray applet never pops up down there. Have I done something wrong? I know that Fedora's KDE4 still currently uses the GTK NetworkManager applet, but I thought that it would just work. By turning off GNOME, did I leave out some essential package or something?

What to file panel bugs against?

What component/package should I file bugs about the task manager against? The task manager randomly shows tasks from other desktops even though I want it to only show from the current desktop. -- Fedora 9 : sulphur is good for the skin ( www.pembo13.com )

segfault in nepomukservices

I noticed this: Mar 8 09:23:15 nbecker1 kernel: nepomukservices[3194]: segfault at 0 ip 0000003197454834 sp 00007fff7ff40df0 error 4 in libQtCore.so.4.4.3[3197400000+21e000] This is F10 x86_64 with all updates from kde-testing.

Groupdav can not contact egroupware anymore

Hello, I have just updated to KDE 4.2.1 in Fedora 10 64bit, and can not connect to the egroupware server. This was working for a long time. I created a bug on bugs.kde.org #186763 Maybe someone can proofread, if I used the correct KDE component because I think it may be deeper in the KDE code, as I have also problems contacting the server vie konqueror and webdav. Chris

Running some widgets as root

Is there a way to run certain widgets as root ? For example, I'd like to use the FileWatcher widgets to monitor various log files with root permission on my second display. Thanks. RDB --

KDM Login Issue

I used to have /etc/sysconfig/desktop, but recently read that it is not required, when using KDM, so I deleted it. I also uninstalled GDM, so that only one DM is present, namely KDM. Everything works fine, KDM starts, but when I log in, it always logs in to Gnome. I have tried time and again to click KDE, login, reboot, etc, but the default is always Gnome. I can only get KDE, if I expressly select it. How do I make it the default, without recreating /etc/sysconfig/desktop?

KDE 4.2.1: Qucikstarter / Konqueror-Delays

Hi Where is my quickstarter-plasma since kde 4.2.1 One of the most important things for me which are back since 4.2.0 I can add/remove from panel but it will not appear At beginning i thought this is because of some remaining 4.2.0-packages If it will go back options to change the icon-order would be great.... But this time there are only two packages with no 4.2.1 version konq-plugins-4.2.0-2.fc10.x86_64 guidance-power-manager-4.2.0-1.fc10.x86_64 _____________ My second problem existing since a long time are really long delays while move/copy files in konqueror and dolphin, even if you move them on the same partition. I takes often many seconds without any reaction and can you make crazy if you reorganize project-folders, the application hangs and you cant use the other tabs and have to make a cigarette break - maybe i will die with this sooner or later :-) _____________ Without this two bugs kde4 will be really useable for me and make me happy again after the shock of 4.0 Greetings from austria
