gpdf
by Lee Connell
Hi all,
I noticed in gpdf when opening a pdf it creates the sidebar menus, but i
can't navigate the document via the sidebar menus, it does not navigate to
the document location. Is this suppose to be this way now? Anyone else
notice the same situation?

by Paul F. Johnson
Hi,
To ensure that I get a good sleep of a weekend, I need to be able to
shut off the sound until 10am on a Sat and Sun morning. What do I need
to do to shut off the sound.
His box is still using FC2.

Based on my recent experience, it usually works, but often requires some
tinkering. It even works from older distros than FC2, but be prepared for
some improvized and sometimes dirty manual rpm -Uvh --force work :-I.
I would like to add a few steps to Seth's instructions:
In case you didn't have selinux enabled previously (the relabeling may be a
good idea anyhow):
7.1) yum install selinux-policy-targeted policycoreutils
(or selinux-policy-strict if you please)
7.2) touch /.autorelabel
This will force selinux relabeling on next boot.
Make sure the next kernel to boot is the new (selinux-enabled) one.
I'm not sure if this (between 7 and 8) is the best place for it. It seems to
work.
Also, make sure you have enough disk space (and memory) for a large yum
upgrade. May sound dumb, but I just managed to get my yum upgrade
interrupted by both insufficiencies :-).

Don't know of migration, but if Samba 4 will use LDAP-compatibile
backed, it should be something like dumping old LDAP and importing it to
Samba.

/usr has vanished completely!
by Paul F. Johnson
Hi,
My entire /usr directory is completely empty! It was working, I did a
reset and on restart, I started to get all sorts of errors, the drives
didn't mount and on checking, /usr is devoid of absolutely everything!
Does anyone know if there is anyway back from this catastrophe?
Everything else is there, just completely nothing in /usr!

fedora-amd64 list?
by Justin Conover
Not sure were to ask this question, but I was wondering if Fedora
would create a seperate amd64 list. That way it would be easier to
sift through the list and just get down to amd64 specific thoughts and
problems.

RE: Evolution Mime Attachments.....
by Hewitt,William P - JSC
For Microsoft Word Attachments, the mime type showing up in my Evolution
install is:
application/msword
I just installed the redhat-menus update, "redhat-
menus-3.7-2.2.fc3.noarch.rpm", and now at least MSWord "doc" Mimetypes
are correctly opening in OpenOffice..... Havent tried the others
yet.....
More as I run across it, but thanks for fixing this (still would like to
know where the ".desktop" file exists that controls this....)
Thanks again....

Help Installing Oracle 10g on Fedora
by Larry D. Brown
I am currently running FC2T2, but I will be upgrading very soon to
FC3T3. Either way, Oracle 10g makes a check for the Linux version
before attempting to install a database. I doubt the issues are very
much beyond "...not certified for this platform," and I only want to
install it for testing and educational purposes. Any ideas about how
to fool the Oracle Universal Installer into thinking it is on a
supported platform?

Laptop suddenly turned off
by Darek Borkowski
I have some problems sinc FC3test2. With every kernel since test2
sometimes laptop plugged to AC outlet or battery supplied turns off.
It works at random times, but today, after upgrading to
2.6.9-1.681_FC3
the laptop turned off 4 times in 1 hour. It is too much.
I've just been working in gnome (configuring sound or network) when it
took place.
How to fight this? I have now FC3 final (clean install).
