Rawhide Xserver problem
by Bruno GARDIN
Apparently since the installation of
xorg-x11-server-1.6.99-2.20090618.fc12 i cannot start X anymore. I am
running rawhide on a vmware ghost and the error message i got in
kdm.log is:
/usr/bin/X: symbol lookup error:
/usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/vmware_drv.so: undefined symbol:
LoaderREfSymLists
The last messages in Xorg.0.log are:
Module vmware: vendor="X.org Foundation"
compiled for 1.6.0, module version = 10.15.2
Module class: X.Org Video Driver
ABI class: X.Org Video Driver, version 5.0
Does anybody else has the same issue or should it be reported as a bug
to Fedora, Xorg or vmware?
Thanks for any help.

They used only one type of hardware. So it is not really comprehensive.
Maybe we should do more systematic benchmarking with the same suite(s).

VirtualBox in Rawhide
by Scott Robbins
While I haven't tested this myself, apparently the 2.6.31 kernel will
affect VirtualBox.
Some kind soul has made a patch.
http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/4264
So, for those using VBox and upgrading to the 2.6.31 kernel, this may
help.

Dovecot Strangeness
by Chuck Forsberg WA7KGX
It appears that Dovecot pop3 doesn't work properly until a ~/mail/.imap
directory exists. This directory is not created by the add user menu item.
Dovecot error messages are not clear about exactly what is wrong. I had
to manually create the required directory to make things work.
IMO add user or Dovecot itself should create this directory if it does
not exist.

How to break X and alienate people
by Xia Shing Zee
While I had a terminal up in Fedora 11, I held the F11 key (full screen
toggle) down for about 5 or so seconds. This caused it to constantly go full
screen and revert back again to a window. The terminal had no menu and X
couldn't start a new terminal, or allow me to shutdown my computer from the
gnome top bar.
Who would do this I have no idea, but it's a problem with X, I'm pretty
sure. Anyone know why this is happening?

Xia Shing

use single /home for f11 and rawhide
by Niels Haase
Did anyone try to use a single /home directory for more than one release?
My intention is to use it for f11 and rawhide to save space and have all
the important data in one directory.
But I doubt about the .gconf, .config or any other configuration directory.
If this is relay a problem to have a configuration file for more than one
version of GNOME (or something)
I want to avoiding creating (false) bugs, who are caused by this.
