Ahhh okay, sorry I was thinking of a poster at FUDcon itself. Okay. I
have to leave the office right now to pick up the FUDcon tshirts but
when I get back to a computer (probably around 5-6) I'll get you some
artwork for that poster, okay? (Hope thats not too late)

Whatever is easiest for you and I can design around it. I'm thinking,
4x5 might work well...

42"! Damn. Okay what dimensions would the final poster be then? 42"x??
Give me dimensions and I'll reformat the letter size sign I did to fit
that with room for a map.

Can you get one to me by cob today? I can get it added to the poster
design tonight and have it back to you around 10-11ish tonight

Fedora sign
by Paul W. Frields
The Red Hat Summit planning group is going to have an extra sign made up
for Fedora featuring some quotations from the excellent press coverage
we've been getting. Kara is working on pulling some quotes for this
purpose.
I think mizmo reads this list, but if not I've cc'd the Artwork list.
Mo, would the Artwork project be able to help us with a simple design
for a sign?
I've already alerted the Summit folks that we need to know:
1. file format required
2. size target for the sign
3. any other requirements from the signage producers
I hope to have the quotes ready on Thursday morning. Would you guys be
able to produce something by, say, Friday morning?
I apologize for the short deadline. The opportunity came up quickly so
I tried to seize it. :-)

Miro - help needed
by Jonathan Roberts
OK,
I was just about to submit the channel I created to Miro to get the ball
rolling on this whole idea. I've put the rss file on my fedorapeople
space, and pointed the feed to Paul's GVFS video to begin with.
But...I'm having issues with Miro's website and it won't let me move on
to the next stage of submitting the video. So, would anybody else like
to have a go at it?
You literally only need to go to:
https://www.miroguide.com/channels/submit
And follow the steps through one by one. Half of information is
auto-filled too from details in the feed itself. A few quick notes:
The video feed file is:
http://jonrob.fedorapeople.org/fedora-tv.xml
I've called the channel Fedora TV
I was planning on using the vertical Fedora logo from
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Logo/UsageGuidelines
Urmm...that's about it! If somebody can do the web side stuff for me,
then I'll happily manually maintain the feed for a while until we find a
better solution.

fedoraLife Concept (condensed version) online now
by Markus McLaughlin
Okay guys, I hear what you say BUT Fedora needs basic tools for photos,
video, voice chats, and burning DVDs that uses already existing CLI tools in
a friendlier GUI. I was only presenting ideas for sub-projects that don't
need to be rushed but just worked on little by little. The condensed
version is now at http://linuxglobe.wordpress.com, I have to add the
Conclusion now, there was no room for it. If anyone like to see the visuals
in full glory, let me know a good free photo hosting service, I can
accommodate in that manner. Keep talking about ideas, that is what I do all
the time on my blogs...

FUDCon Boston transportation warning for those taking the Red Line
by Matthew Miller
People on the Cambridge side of the river need to be aware that the MBTA is
doing repairs on the tracks on the Longfellow Bridge the weekend of FUDCon,
which means they'll be running busses between Kendall and Park. In the
best-case scenario it means anyone planning to come to BU by that route
needs to add another 15 minutes to their planned commute.
I'm planning to go to Central Square and take the 47 bus across the river
instead. Or if the weather is nice, just walk from there.

Mission: Video blogging Fedora screencasts for use in Miro
by Jef Spaleta
Who's up to the challenge of creating an experimental rss feed for
Fedora tutorial screencasts in theora that we can use in miro out of
the box in Fedora 9?
I've been trying to find a spare machine at work to host this sort of
thing... but I've just utterly failed. I was hoping to surprise
everyone with a workable demo that you could submit theora vids to for
me to host as a starting point for figuring out how to really deal
with open video content in a user accessible way. I think miro is a
workable solution. But I've failed to deliver.
So now I'm asking everyone on this list for help.
Can someone put together a simple rss feed with just a couple of
theora videos that miro understands as a channel? It doesn't have to
be a huge hosting commitment. We don't need to start with a Broadcast
Machine implementation and use Miro's inherent ability to speak
torrent. We should be able to demo a feed using video houses in
Fedora's people space.
Once we have that, we can figure out how best to host additional
screencast material as part of our Project communication strategy. I
think doing torrents might make some sense, but we have to talk with
infrastructure concerning hosting space requirements. And we'll have
to figure out how the access control model we want to use...well I
should say 'you' want to use. I'm very sure that the policy with
regard to editorial control of an official Fedora video feed should be
in the hands of the marketeers with input from docs and translators.
Once we have that, we can move on beyond screencasts into web camera
interviews and so on and so on.
So who's game. I really have to apologize for not having the time to
get a hosting instance together for videos as a starting point for a
full discussion.
