It looks like Kmymoney is based on Gnucash, judging from today's update notes. Is this correct? I'm trying to choose between them for keeping track of my own finances, and this may simplify the choice. Any further comments on either program are welcome.

I have used Gnucash for more than a decade for my personal finances. It has worked well for me. I have never used Kmymoney so I can't really comment or compare the two. If you do a Google search for "gnucash vs kmymoney" you can find a number of folks who have compared the two.
In the end, which one is better for you will depend on your own needs (and possibly on which desktop environment you are comfortable working in; you can run KDE programs under GNOME and vice versa, so that's not a show stopper in any case).

Hi! I tried them both and I find Kmymoney simpler and smaller than Gnucash. But I really think that you should give both a try and see which one fits you better.
