FedoraCore1-2.6.3 Kernel Errors
by Murali P
Hello
I installed the RPMś relating to the
2.6.3-2.1.204 having downloaded the same from the link
given on http://fedoranews.org/jorge.
I am able to boot without any difficulty. However, the
following problems occur :
1. I´ve installed and configured ALSA packages.But
sound doesn´t start on next boot, I am required to run
¨ alsaconf"each time on fresh boot.
2. It is given in the docs at the above URL that 2.6
kernel does not require SCSI emulation for
CD-writing.But cdrecord does not seem to work.
Could you kindly provide me with tips to overcome
these problems.
Thanks in advance.
Murali

What are your experiences on running Fedora (Core 1) as a server, in

Is anyone out there?
by Bill Kenney
Hello all,
I have been receiving several hundred emails a day from this list that I
read while trying to configure my new computer with FC1.
Has the list gone down or is my ISP and/or mail provider blocking the
list traffic?
If you receive this please respond both via the list and off-list to me
at kenneyw(a)usa.com.
I am receiving email from the redhat, solaris and unix-admin lists
without any problem.
TIA,
Bill

Printing to Windows printer
by Keith Sparacin
I am trying to print to a printer connected to a Windows XP system
from Linux, but I can't get it to work. It worked in RedHat 9. I
configured the printer with printtool. Sending a test page from the
printtool shows:
Connection failed with error NT_STATUS_ACESS_DENIED
Here is what I get when using smbclient to connect to the remote
printer (there is no password):
$ smbclient '\\192.168.1.103\hpdeskjet'
Password:
Domain=[HOME] OS=[Windows 5.1] Server=[Windows 2000 LAN Manager]
smb: \> dir
NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED listing \*
0 blocks of size 0. 0 blocks available
smb: \> quit
In smbclient, I can send a file to the printer using `put <filename>'.
Has anyone got this working?

ShoutCast down?
by Charles Howse
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Hi,
Is anyone else having problems playing streams from ShoutCast?
I load them through StreamTuner, and it tells me "Unable to tune in, Stream is
empty."
I can't even play them from the ShoutCast web site, with Totem, same problem.
