by Quicksort
Platform: *Fedora 17 x64*
Hello everybody,
Usually, updates frequency is high. But for about one week, none.
How can I check my installed YUM (refresh-packagekit ?) still
correctly does its work ? And what should I do if it does not ?
Thanks.

Although the extraction is successful, checksums are OK. :)
Thanks for pointing out an additional tool(deco) for such a task.
Total so far: rpm2cpio/cpio, rpmdev-extract, deco and direct download
method via the fedpkg.
Nice. :)

Is there any way a Unsecure Wifi connection, one can determine how to
contact the owner about his connection.
I can't visualise how , but I just thought I would just ask.

F18 Browser troubles
by Beartooth
For some time, both Firefox and Seamonkey have been popping up
complaint notices every few seconds; and every few minutes one or both
will crash. This morning it got so bad that I closed both of them,
opening Arora and Midori instead, planning to ask if it's Mozilla or me,
or xfce, or F18. Arora and Midori also both crashed within a few minutes
of launching.
Neither Dillo nor Konqueror has been having any such troubles,
nor has Opera.

Lets be gratefull that NAT will be a thing of the past as soon as V6 will be used more generally.
Just like accoustic coupled modems: once generally accepted and even state of the art, now something for a museum -:)

Yes, I know. Poor choice of words, on my behalf. It's somewhat
buffered, in that NAT often gets in the way. But it's not meant to keep
things out, so any expectation that it will, is bad thinking.
I've even come across modem/routers that go out of their way to help
outside connections come through their NAT to the other side. The idea
being to make it easier for less savvy users to still be able to play
games, do their VOIPing, etc.
> And if someone comes into a LAN via it's WAP, they're on the _inside_,

My point was, Windows users (who, typically, don't know much about what
they're doing - let's face it, there's hundreds of thousands of
non-technical users), have kind-of gotten used to being somewhat
protected from outside disturbances by their modem/routers, unlike how
their old modems offered no isolation, now have something behind that
not very tangible barrier, as another easy way in.

Fedora 18 and network
by Martín Marqués
What system brings up networking on Fedora 18? SysV or Systemd?
I have a newly installed server and I haven't been able to make the
eth0 network card come up on boot (manually running systemctl restart
network.service does bring up the eth0 with the right configuration).
I see that there are some reminance of the sysV network script:
# chkconfig --list
ebtables 0:desactivado 1:desactivado 2:desactivado
3:desactivado 4:desactivado 5:desactivado 6:desactivado
netconsole 0:desactivado 1:desactivado 2:desactivado
3:desactivado 4:desactivado 5:desactivado 6:desactivado
network 0:desactivado 1:desactivado 2:desactivado
3:desactivado 4:desactivado 5:desactivado 6:desactivado
Should I activate network here?

installing LXR on fedora 18/17
by Kevin Wilson
Hi all,
Did anyone tried to install LXR on fedora 18/17?
I am following the manual, and starting the httpd service with no errors.
But browsing http://local/lxr does not show the lxr templates as expected.
