Fedora 23, 22, 21
by Max Pyziur
Greetings,
I'm seeing a lot of announcements for different Fedora 23 packages.
Has F23 been released, or is it still in Beta?
And when would/will F21 be EOL'd?
Thanks.

OT problem -
by Bob Goodwin
My DD-WRT router log contains the line:
192.168.1.7 172.17.2.46
UDP snmp-trap Accepted
192.168.1.7 is an F-22 computer that is "turned off" [with the power
button] however I have noticed in the early morning darkness the usb
keyboard back-lights flash on occasionally. I assume it is something set
in the BIOS configuration but have never known what to look for and
since it works as it is I've never considered it important enough to
bother with. My curiosity gets to me this morning ...
Any idea what it is or what I should do about it if it matters would be
of interest ...
Bob

Adjust screen brightness in my ThinkPad Lenovo laptop
by Kalpa Welivitigoda
HI,
I am using ThinkPad Lenovo T530 laptop and I am on Fedora 23 beta. I cannot
adjust my screen brightness with the shortcut keys. I tried several options
like appending "acpi_backlight=vendor" to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX but didn't
work. Automatic brightness adjustment that comes with GNOME 3.18 is also
not working (I am not sure whether my laptop has a light sensor).
Any help to get this fixed is highly appreciated, the brightness is so high
that it hurts eyes when working for hours.

Memroy invasion
by Patrick Dupre
Hello,
Running only firefox, htop indicates: an occupation of 14.6 of the
memory and of 11.5% for gnome-shell (actually 1.4 G/ 3G of RAM).
This slows down the machine without clear explanation.
Actually, it becomes a lot worst as soon as I run xmgrace for example.
I run fc21
Of course, if I kill firefox, the memory occupation is gone, but I
still keep the 11.5% of gnome-shell while only one gnome-terminal is open.
(I do not run ant thing, only the OS runs some stuff).

Mailing list issues
by Zoltan Hoppar
Hi,
I have serious problem with our hu-users mailing list, because I can't
access the admin side of the list because I don't know anymore the
password for it, because wasn't me who has handled the list. As one of
our team member who has left the community, handed over the list and
the IRC, I have lost the admin access to the hu-users fpo list.
Not only that makes me headache, else lately some chinese-korean
spammers are bombarding it...and seriously would like to end it. I am
asking help to reset the password or close out those spammers, but no
clue who are able to access all the fpo mailing lists...and help me
out, and kill spammers.
TIA,
Zoltan

fedup leaves me stuck between 21 and 22
by sean darcy
running updated 21.
fedup --network 22
Preparation seemed to go well:
........
[ 191.911] (II) fedup:<module>() /usr/bin/fedup exiting cleanly at Tue
Oct 6 12:26:25 2015
Rebooted.
Died somewhere in upgrading. Is there any log of the upgrade ?
No new kernel installed. Reboots into 21 kernel. Lots of dupes. yum
upgrade just give 21 updates.
fedup no help:
fedup --network 22
usage: fedup <SOURCE> [options]
fedup: error: argument --network: version must be higher than 22
Any help appreciated.

dnf install custom rpm - dnf upgrade
by arnaud gaboury
I built my own .rpm's for a meta package. These packages are only a
modification of an existing Fedora package. Before I installed my own
packages, I first removed the original version from Fedora.
Thus now $ dnf list installed return correctly:
Software version-MyBuild.fc22.1
When doing a system upgrade, dnf want to install the original Fedora version:
Software-version.fc22.1
Is there a way to change somewhere this behavior? Why dnf want to
upgrade a package which is not installed? I guess one solution would
be to give a different name for my own tweak rpm, but I thought
changing only versisoning would be enough. Another solution would be
to ignore these packages. Is there a clean and recommended way to
avoid dnf to upgrade these customs rpm's ?
Thank you for hints

gnome-shell-extension-openweather not working
by Andre Robatino
For most of the past day, gnome-shell-extension-openweather is not working,
and it just says "Loading" when clicking on it. If I go to the website, and
enter the zip code for my city, it shows the forecast, but the city link is
just "http://openweathermap.org/city/0" which points to "City of London,
GB". Was there an API change or something?

Copying files without losing selinux context
by Suvayu Ali
Hi,
Yesterday I installed a new SSD in my laptop. I moved all my files
(/home, /var, /opt) with rsync and rebooted. However I see the selinux
filecontexts are wrong, and many services are failing because of that,
e.g. the user crontab doesn't load.
# ls -Z /var/spool/cron/user
unconfined_u:object_r:var_spool_t:s0 /var/spool/cron/user
I did an autorelabel on boot, I also ran `restorecon -p -r /var',
neither helped. To get the crontab working, I had to change the context
by hand.
# chcon --reference=/old/part/spool/cron/user /var/spool/cron/user
# ls -Z /var/spool/cron/user
unconfined_u:object_r:user_cron_spool_t:s0 /var/spool/cron/user
I would like to know how I can fix the rest, and what I should have used
to do the copy in the first place. I guess `cp -c' would work, but then
I wouldn't have the ability to resume the transfer.
Thanks for any help.
Cheers,
