Fedora 23 KDE spin / XEN / virt-manager and vmlinuz-4.3.3-301.fc23.x86_64
by Outback Dingo
So my environment
Fedora 23 KDE spin
XEN-4.5.2 and kernel 4.2.8 booted via EFI where everything works fine using
virt-manager to manage vms under XEN, all is good.
a recent update installed kernel-4.3.3 so i reset the xen efi
configuration, booted got into the desktop no problems. The issue arises
when trying to launch vms from virt-manager, it always throws
a virt-manager viewer connection to hypervisor host got refused or
disconnected.
however, if i go back to using kernel 4.2.8 it all works fine. So there in
lies the question, whats changed that is now preventing virt-manager from
aunching vms properly.
Sorry for the cross post, just trying to find the answer. thanks in advance

HAProxy w/SSL termination mixed content issue.
by Mark Haney
I've got a problem I can't quite figure out and I'm hoping a Fedora list
member can give me a hand. These systems are all Ubuntu based, but this
doesn't appear to be an OS related issue as much as maybe I'm missing
something with the configuration.
We're needing to scale out one of our websites to multiple web servers.
We've already scaled the DB into a 4 node cluster using haproxy with great
success, so the plan has been to use haproxy for load balancing the web
servers as well. (not the same haproxy, obviously)
The catch is that the existing website is HTTPS, and has been for well over
a year. I want to have the load balancer handle the SSL end and use
straight HTTP to the web servers to ease application debugging. As I'd
never done SSL termination, I essentially copied one of the many template
configs on the interwebs.
Here's my problem. When I pull the page from the web server itself (HTTP)
it renders fine. When I pull it through the load balancer (HTTPS) it
doesn't with an error about mixed content. Based on my research this
should make the client see everything as coming from an SSL source even if
it doesn't:
frontend lc_www
bind *:80
bind *:443 ssl crt /etc/ssl/private/vif.pem
acl secure dst_port eq 443
redirect scheme https if !{ ssl_fc }
rspadd Strict-Transport-Security:\ max-age=31536000;\ includeSubDomains;\
preload
rsprep ^Set-Cookie:\ (.*) Set-Cookie:\ \1;\ Secure if secure
default_backend lc_webfarm
backend lc_webfarm
http-request set-header X-Forwarded-Port %[dst_port]
http-request add-header X-Forwarded-Proto https if { ssl_fc }
server sb3 10.42.204.182:80
When I disable 'protection' in FF the site renders fine. When I enable SSL
on the web servers directly, I do not get this error at all (and have never
received this error in the near two years it's been HTTPS only). The
website itself is joomla based, but I can't see how that's part of the
problem.
Is there something weird with my config? Or can someone begin to tell me
where to start debugging. BTW, this is using the latest Haproxy v1.6.
Any ideas?

Price is not relevant, i can go up to 300euros/dollars if needed, i just
want something that works for sure.

sudo disappears after latest update
by Ranjan Maitra
Hello,
I have a strange issue: my machine was updated via cron last noght. I rebooted this morning and several attempts, including rebooting into the older kernel do not seem to work in granting me sudo access.
~$ sudo dnf update
[sudo] password for maitra:
maitra is not in the sudoers file. This incident will be reported.
The password is correct because otherwise I would get the notificaiton that it is not so so that is not the issue.
Short of reinstalling, how do I get around this? Note that I do not have root account, so I am not sure about what to do.
Many thanks and best wishes,
Ranjan

dovecot? systemd?
by Tom Horsley
I just did a "dnf update" and now dovecot won't start at boot.
I get errors like:
Feb 11 07:23:41 tomh systemd[1]: dovecot.service: Main process exited, code=exited, status=89/n/a
Feb 11 07:23:41 tomh systemd[1]: dovecot.service: Unit entered failed state.
Feb 11 07:23:41 tomh systemd[1]: dovecot.service: Failed with result 'exit-code'.
And over in maillog for the same timestamp:
Feb 11 07:23:41 tomh dovecot: master: Error: service(imap-login): listen(*, 993) failed: Address already in use
Feb 11 07:23:41 tomh dovecot: master: Fatal: Failed to start listeners
But if I manually do this a few minutes after I boot:
sudo systemctl restart dovecot.service
It then starts running with no problems.
So who the heck is grabbing the imap ports when dovecot tries to start at boot?

Lan connection problem -
by Bob Goodwin
I have a problem that began about a week
ago and keeps distracting me from other
computer problems and I am beginning to
think it may be related to a dnf update.
I can work around the problem by having
my router powered from a UPS and being
careful not to reboot the router. Once
the router reboots the various wireless
devices I have, printer, video cameras,
etc. need their ac power "recycled" to
get them connected to the LAN again.
Very inconvenient at this time of year
since some of these devices are in
another building ...
When this happens I can not ping those
devices, normally I should be able to
connect to the cameras with the browser
and reboot them when some glitch occurs
but now when I lose the LAN connection I
have to visit them and pull the plug.
The printer is near at hand and toggling
the power switch gets it back on.
The problem is manifest on three updated
Fedora-23 computers and I have replaced
the router to no avail.
What do I need to look at?

I replied to Marco and thought that I automagically replied to the list. I got it to work by manually changing the data with the dates:
2015gfga.dat
--------------------------------
Test Opponents Grulla Opponents
2015/01/03-Edinburg-Vela 0 10
2015/01/06-Zapata 1 0
2015/01/13-Lyford 2 0
2015/01/16-Roma 0 0
2015/01/20-Mercedes 0 3
2015/01/23-Laredo-Nixon 1 2
2015/02/03-Zapata 8 1
2015/02/10-Hidalgo 1 9
2015/02/13-Raymondville 3 1
2015/02/17-Monte-Alto 1 0
2015/02/20-Zapata 0 0
2015/02/26-Hidalgo 0 4
2015/03/06-Raymondville 2 2
2015/03/17-Monte-Alto 6 1
2015/03/26-Port-Isabel 3 0
2015/04/03-Rockport-Fulton 0 7
then modified 2015gfga.plt and added a range
set yrange [0:10]
will fix the graph to what I would like
[olivares@localhost tmp]$ cat 2015gfga.plt
---------------------------------------------------
#set terminal postscript eps color solid
set border linewidth 1.5
set style histogram errorbars linewidth 1.5
set style data histograms
set style fill solid 1 border -1
set ylabel "Goals Scored" font "Helvetica,16"
set xtics border in scale 1,0.5 rotate by -90 nomirror offset character 0, 0, 0
#set xtics border in scale 1,0.5 rotate by -45 nomirror offset character 0, 0, 0
set grid
#set xdata time
#set timefmt "%Y%m%d"
#set xtics ( 'Edinburg Vela' 20150103, 'Zapata' 20150106, 'Lyford' 20150113, 'Roma' 20150116, 'Mercedes' 20150120, 'Laredo Nixon' 20150123, 'Zapata' 20150203, 'Hidalgo' 20150210, 'Raymondville' 20150213, 'Monte Alto' 20150217, 'Zapata' 20150220, 'Hidalgo' 20150227, 'Raymondville' 20150306, 'Monte Alto' 20150317, 'Port Isabel' 20150326, 'Rockport Fulton' 20150403 ) rotate by 90 right
set ytics 1 nomirror
set key top left
#Start of user script
#---------------------
ExtData1 = '2015gfga.dat'
plot '2015gfga.dat' using 3:2:xtic(1) title col lc rgb '#084594', '2015gfga.dat' using 2:3:xtic(1) title col lc rgb '#f6e8c3'
I had in the last line
plot 'ExtData1' using 3:2:xtic(1) title col lc rgb '#084594', '' using 2:3:xtic(1) title col lc rgb '#f6e8c3'
and gnuplot was reporting an error. I modified it to above and removed ExtData1 reference and it worked.
I tried to set the xtics manually and change them according to Marco's reference, but the graph did not refect all the games so I modified the data file and added the date and the opponent and then modified the range to prohibit the line going below and keep everything in quadrant I. If anyone has a nicer way to make the graph look better, or format it using something else please help. I would like for our athletes to see what we need to work on the Goal Differential and not allow too many goals against us.
Best Regards,
Antonio
