How to add a network adaptor?
by David Aldrich
I have a machine running Fedora 22. The motherboard provides an Ethernet network adaptor, which I connect to our office network. I want to add an HP Ethernet 10Gb 2-port 560SFP+ adapter to support a local subnet, but retain the original motherboard adaptor and connection to the office network.
Before adding the 560SFP+ card, ifconfig -a reports:
$ ifconfig -a
eno1: flags=4163<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
inet 172.29.68.172 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 172.29.68.255
but after inserting the new card, that command reports new entries: enpls0f0 and enpls0f1, but eno1 has gone.
How can I recover eno1?
Best regards
David

Question on best process to setup new install
by Michael D. Setzer II
Question on setup machine after clean install?
This is the process I've been using.
rpm --qf "%{NAME}\n" -qa | sort | grep -v gpg-pubkey | grep -v kmod-V | grep
-v google-earth > installed_pkgs.txt
Copy all *.repo files from /etc/yum.repos.d
Copy files from /etc/pki/rpm-gpg/
After putting copied files on new machine run
dnf install `cat installed_pkgs.txt`
General have to minor issues.
msttcorefonts-2.5-1.noarch is no longer available, but have a copy, so
manually install it.
Other issue is with google-chrome seems it gpg isn't in the /etc/pki/rpm-gpg
directory?
wget https://dl.google.com/linux/linux_signing_key.pub
sudo rpm --import linux_signing_key.pub
Any ways to improve this process?

Sound device keeps reverting from hdmi2 to stereo
by Richard Shaw
I have a F23 system which I use as a HTPC and occasionally the audio
reverts from hdmi2 in the devices to the on-board stereo sound card.
I'm not sure what keywords to use to see if this has been reported in
bugzilla but I wasn't able to find anything I thought relevant.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Richard

[F24] - sshd.service disabled
by Antonio M
Each time I run a major update (i.e. release advancement) sshd.service is
flagged as disabled. A minor issue of course, but why??

GDM fails to load mesa-dri-drivers
by Eric Griffith
Hey guys and gals. I'm at my wit's end on this one...
I was using my system earlier tonight, trying to get a couple games working
in wine. Everything was fine.. until I ran PlayOnLinux. It errored out with
saying it couldn't find any OpenGL drivers for my laptop (Intel Broadwell).
Thought it was odd, but nothing was freaking out, so I didn't think
anything of it. Saw some updates come up, updated, rebooted, and everything
went to hell.
Now whenever I try to boot, GDM errors out
AIGLX error dlopen (path to i915_dri.so, and swrast) undefined symbol
_glapi_get_dispatch_table_size & _glapi_set_dispatch
Other than going back and undoing a few days worth of dnf operations one by
one and seeing which one actually broke things, does anyone have any ideas?
I can't imagine that this something specific to my system because that kind
of error makes me think that something broke API/ABI

F24-K3b crashes if trying to burn the F24 Workstation image to a DVD
by Joachim Backes
After having installed the F24 Beta x86-64 workstation and running it
since some weeks without problems, I tried to burn the recently released
F24 Workstation image
Fedora-Workstation-Live-x86_64-24-1.2.iso
to a DVD using k3b. But k3b crashes immediately after selecting the F24
downloaded image for burning:
-- k3b(2625)/kdeui (kdelibs): Attempt to use QAction "view_projects"
with KXMLGUIFactory!
k3b(2625)/kdeui (kdelibs): Attempt to use QAction "view_dir_tree" with
KXMLGUIFactory!
k3b(2625)/kdeui (kdelibs): Attempt to use QAction "view_contents" with
KXMLGUIFactory!
k3b(2625)/kdeui (kdelibs): Attempt to use QAction "location_bar" with
KXMLGUIFactory!
KCrash: Application 'k3b' crashing...
KCrash: Attempting to start from kdeinit
KCrash: Connect sock_file=/home/backes/.kde/socket-eule/kdeinit4__0
KCrash: Attempting to start directly
KCrash failed to exec(), errno = 2
Using brasero burns the image without flaw.
Burning data files with k3b succeeds too.
Anybody sees this too?
Kind regards

Thunderbird and Gmail problem
by JD
Had a disk corruption and lost inbox messages from Dec 17, 2015 to June
15, 2016
So, I followed the tips online:
1. Exit TB
2. Login to gmail account via browser
3. Click on cogwheel on upper left of browser screen
4. Select Settings
5. Click on Forwarding and POP/IMAP
6. Click on Enable POP for all mail (even mail that's already been
downloaded
7. Scroll down and click on Save Changes.
Restarted TB, logged in and I received ALL messages.
However none of them were for the date ranges that I lost.
So I used a plugin to delete duplicates.
Yet, on the browser, I can see those messages for the date range that I
want.
How can I force them to be downloaded again?

by Gianluca Cecchi
Today it's my birthday and I discovered that one of the gifts for me is
Fedora 24...
Thanks to all the developers and contributors ;-)
I'm going to update during the next few days
Keep on!
BTW: is still the link below the right one to upgrade from Fedora 23 to
Fedora 24:
